Mike Huckabee Quits Fox News - The Daily Beast

  1. Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, announced on Saturday that he will be ending his Fox News show so that he can look into a 2016 presidential bid. "I'm not going to make a decision about running until late in the spring of 2015, but the continued (political) chatter has put Fox News in a position that just isn’t fair to them," Huckabee said. Huckabee did not run in 2012 after briefly being a contender in 2008.
I like MIke Huckabee, even though he's a religious idiot.

Actually, I like him too, in many ways. Plays a mean electronic bass, is quite beloved in Arkansas.
He could hold the South for the GOP, but essentially, that would be that.
The McCainiacs did him in 2008 - way too much footage of them calling him a "socialist".

Who will be the first libtard to start attacking Huckabee, Luddy? Fakey Skanky? Twat Com?

That's a pretty honorable thing to do. Of course the radical low information left will find fault with it.

Well, no, not really. Santorum and Gingrich had to give up their gigs in 2012, and Carson had to give up his Fox news gig.

Heck, Pat Buchanan had to give up his CNN Gig the two times he decided to run for President.

"Could a presidential run be next?"

One fails to see why.

Just last October he was threatening to leave the party:

“Huckabee then went on to blame the left-coast establishment wing of the GOP for raising the “white flag” of surrender to same-sex marriage, then issued an ultimatum:

'If the Republicans wanna lose guys like me, and a whole bunch of still God-fearing Bible-believing people, go ahead and just abdicate on this issue, and go ahead and say abortion doesn’t matter, either. Because at that point, you lose me, I’m gone. I’ll become an independent, I’ll start finding people that have guts to stand, I’m tired of this.'”

Huckabee I Will Leave GOP if They Don 8217 t Actively Oppose Same-Sex Marriage Mediaite

Does this sound like a GOP presidential candidate that can attract the weak ('Reagan') democrats and democratic-leaning independents needed to win the presidency, someone hostile to the rights of gay Americans and women – there would likely be some republicans not willing to vote for such a candidate.

He'd get hammered in the general election.

Maybe not.

His chances of getting elected are #of votes the Mormon Got + how many people are willing to change their minds who voted for Obama last time.

Huckabee could appeal to blacks, who are very religious, he could appeal to working class stiffs.

The one thing he has that a lot of republicans lack- likability.

As he famously said in 2008, "I look like the guy you work with, he (Romney) looks like the guy who lays you off."

That last appellation could be applied to Jeb or anyone else in the GOP Clown Car. THey all look like the guy who laid off your dad.

While I favor marriage equality, I don't think that's a winner at the ballot box. Most of the change on that issue has been through the courts, not the ballot box or even the legislatures.

Why is it news though? Would we care if any obscure pundit on ABC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, NBC or the Comedy Channel quit? Nobody would notice.

There are lots of people I like that I would never advise or support in a bid to run for political office.

I like Mike, but the Pastor has to be faster and the master of the evangelical based without turning off the center with his social con positions. He does them better than any of the other conservatives.

It's really quite entertaining. Is he a minister or a politician, or both?

And what is he going to threaten to do tomorrow?

Stay tuned...

As would I.

Here's what I've always kind of liked about Huckabee, though. Huckabee is a Christian, and his understanding of the separation of CHurch and State is a bit too fuzzy for my tastes.

But he's one of the few Conservatives who realizes you can't worship both Jesus and Ayn Rand. They are two diametrically opposed philosophies. I kind of like that he would make the Christian Right actually be more philosophically Christian.
