Michele Obama goes to China.. Forbids any reporters.

Vacations are to the first heifer what shoes were to Imelda Marcos. It's important that she go to China to lecture them about education and take the model of Chicago schools as an example. With a little effort China can have schools just like those.

It is commonly known that America has one of the worst educational systems in the world.

Unbelievable.

Her husband is running the country into the ground and she takes the kids to China for a Spring Break trip on the tax payer's dime.

First Lady Michelle Obama will be accompanied by her children and her mother on her trip to China, which begins today. But she won't be accompanied by the press.

"Michelle Obama’s trip to China starting on Wednesday will be nonpolitical, the White House says, a 'people-to-people exchange' emphasizing the importance that both nations place on education. As if to underscore the point, no reporters are traveling with the first lady, and she does not plan to give interviews while there," reports the New York Times.

The White House is defending the first lady bringing her family along for the ride by saying it's what the Chinese would want. "Tina Tchen, Mrs. Obama’s chief of staff and a first-generation Chinese-American, said a multigenerational visit would be appreciated by the Chinese, who value tradition," says the Times.

But in America, the trip is not without controversy. "Mrs. Obama is drawing scrutiny for her decision to travel with her mother and her two daughters, who are on spring break, bringing to mind a vacation she took to Spain in 2010 with her daughter Sasha and some friends. She and her entourage paid for their lodging and entertainment. But the security cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars, and the trip was criticized as lavish.," reads the report.

"Some conservative commentators are calling the China trip a junket. The White House will not say how much it will cost."

only nixon could go to china.

No we don't. Our public K-12 is generally sub-par, but our private schools are excellent (as evidenced by the literal hordes of Chinese students clamoring for enrollment therein), and our universities are by far the best in the world.

Just what they need Michelle going to China and taking her mother and kids with her.

Another costly vacation payed for by we the taxpayer.

Wonder who will pay for all those vacations when he's out of office??

Can you point to where Obama has taken more of these vacations than other recent Presidents?

It might help your case

Well, since Claudette was obviously out of her league or just plain old too stupid to know where to look, here is real information about FLOTUS vacations, Michelle Obama vs. Laura Bush.

National Taxpayers Union - Which First Lady Flies Highest? Michelle vs. Laura

From 2001-2009, during the span of her husband's administration, Laura Bush took 46 foreign trips, ended up visiting 73 foreign countries for a total of 212 days, or 7.26% of her husbands two-terms.

By contrast, now in the middle of Obama's 6th year, Michelle Obama has taken 14 trips to a total of 25 foreign countries, a total of 72 days. Obama has now been in office 1,883 days.

72 / 1883 = 3.82%.

Assuming that Michelle Obama continues at this rate, she will never catch up to Laura Bush's record.

So, tell us, y'all, which FLOTUS was more expensive?

Remember, all of Laura Bush's trips were on the public dime, just like Michelle Obama's.

So, the Right is bellyaching about what, again?

Oh, and thanks, Gracie!

Yes I am.

Big deal, what's your argument?

Private schools are generally not counted as part of the "system" which I referred to. I regard our private schools separately, and I would agree they are infinitely better than public schools.

The Chinese students are smart to go to private schools, but it should not be forgotten that the vast majority of those students carry on the educational traditions of their ancestors.

Yea, our colleges are superior, but they are also unsurpassed at programming the populace with the popular notions of today and don't allow for freedom of thought.

They are not part of education in the US?

So do American students at those very same schools.

Private schools are not part of the "system." No. That's why parents go outside of the system and bring their children there.

There are only a handful of children, I'm sure, who are any where nearly aware of Chinese educational tradition as a native would of his or her own.

Our universities are piss poor too. Our post graduate schools are still the best. By then the dross has been churned out.

Please post that again in English.

She shouldn't be going to China in the first place.
