Merry X-Mas, Middle Class! House Republicans Just Voted To Raise Your Taxes By $1000

Oh wait. Are you saying you're against it?

It's hard to tell with you guys. One minute you're claiming you want it, the next you're saying it's a bad idea.

It depends where you it comes from. Sure, everyone would like that money in their paycheck, but they want that money in their Social Security check when the time comes, too. Long range thinking here. Sometimes you just can't have it both ways.

This should make democrats happy, it's what they have been trying to do all along, so why are those on here complaining now? Because they need to try and make it even harder for the GOP to win any battles in 2012, only problem is though, most of us working class out here right now understand what is going on and the democrats are still going down in 2012. The GOP did not create this crisis from 2008 to 2010, the Democrats did, and we wont forget that.

you may bot be paying attention.

We want it....but we are aware that keeping it for only 2 months will not give the consumer reason to spend it. To the contrary, they are more likely to save it...doing nothing for the economy.

Even a year will not be long eneough....but at least it gives people the comfort of knowing they will have about 1500 more in their pockets......200 more does not give confidence to spend.

At least...that is how I see it

What you say makes sense. But if you read some of your fellow reps opinions in these threads it almost seems like they don't want the cut to be extended at all. Thats the confusing part.

And I agree with you, 2 months is worthless in the big picture. It needs to be a year at least, but it has to be a year long bill that is free of other legislation. A clean bill should pass without a problem.

RDD....

Take this as a lesson.

Obama can say....."I say we cut taxes on the rich and taxes on the middle class...and reform entitlements..."

And there will be repuiblican supporters on this board finding an issue with it.

well, good. That's what the McConnell plan is meant to fix:

"We should go ahead and get this done," Obama said at the White House. "This should not be hard."

In pitching his compromise, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said the Republican-run House should approve a two-month extension now, while the Democratic-run Senate should agree to immediate negotiations on a year-long extension as requested by the House. "We can and should do both," McConnell said in a statement.

"We can do both." IOW, a temporary solution provides time for one that's longer. In fact, maybe they could agree to make it permanent.

Maybe they could end the Bush tax breaks for the rich, permanently, to pay for it.

A very valuable lesson. You're a wise man.

You'd think so. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Until recently, they were refusing to go along with it until they got their pipeline. Then they got their pipeline.

The reasons for the opposition change. The opposition is elf is constant.

President Obama today endorsed a proposed compromise by the Senate Republican leader on the payroll tax cut impasse: have House Republicans pass a temporary two-month extension, while Senate Democrats agree to negotiate a year-long extension at the same time.

Obama endorses McConnell payroll tax cut plan

So the good news for America is that the tax cut will be preserved, despite House Republicans attempts to derail it.

The bad news for the Pubs is the tax cut for middle-class Americans will be preserved...

Well, at least we're in agreement that SS is really just a tax...

Anyway, I thought letting tax cuts expire was not the equivalent of raising taxes? And now tax cuts are good?

You guys are all over the map!

Hey Fago,

What do you not understand that the House GOP passed a bill for ONE YEAR and the Senate Dimocrats wouldn't even bring it up for vote. Rather the Dimocrats only want 2 months! TWO MONTHS! The House GOP says we want a ONE YEAR!

Do you just ignore facts or are you so stuck to your welfare checks you will make up anything and everything to support the party that provides you crumbles off the table to live on?

The Senate Republicans must be opposed to the House Republican pork, why else would they agree with Obama and not Boehner?

They just want the issue to go away, mostly because they don't have the sand to fight for anything.

Only RINOs have said anything about it.

Fact is Harry Reid is trying to gain political advantage over his sorry lack of leadership and lack of any real concern for the needs of workers. He wants to get back to his trees and get back to getting nobjobs from high-class hookers at the casinoes.

HOW MANY damn threads do we need on this SAME TOPIC.

In everyone we see the Liberals showing their stupidity.

They DON'T CARE that the Democrats are playing them...so long as they can crow about how this is ALL the Republicans fault.

Blind fool! This tactic is used by both sides!

IDIOT!

Actually liberals are well known for changing their opinions whenever the political winds change and their followers just go along like Lemmings.

Among other endeavours such as changing history, meaning of words...

Well, it doesn't appear to me that they voted.. so why the lie?
Right. The Senate Democrats Folded thier tent and went home for the Holidays. SanFran Nan says she won't allow her Democrats to go to comittee meetings to resolve this.

Neither House can go in recess with OUT the approval of the other House. So exactly how did the Senate leave?

Good question. And why is Boehner asking Obama to call Reid and the Senate back to the District Of Criminals to resolve this issue.

If I were Boehner? I'd just shut the whole works down, with NO vote on the Senate plan, let the shit fly, and take it up after recess.

It's Politics, It's Bull Shit, and it's bad for ya.

Both sides are using Social Security to make the other side look bad. And they are both succeeding.

If we are to have Social security then it must be funded, Stop underfunding it with a fake tax cut.

The deficit is in the toilet, not one person in Washington has a plan to fix it other than raise taxes on one side and cut spending on the other.

If we had any leadership in the city we could find a compromise. Maybe in January of 2013 we'll have a leader.......

All of it, the tax code, FICA...all being used for electioneering.

It's dispicable.

Yup. What happened to all that "Raise My Taxes" bullshit?????

What are you talking about?

The Democrats position is consistent: raise taxes on the rich, not everyone else. Your position is incoherent, because you can't say what it really is. IOW, you can't tell the truth about it.

Doesn't anyone notice that the Democraps are trying to change their stripes by claiming now that tax-cuts are helpful to the economy?????:eusa_angel:

It's funny how they can change their positions without batting an eye and act like they never changed.

Only a dishonest media makes this possible.

And they have set a trap (which The Republicans gladly fell into), that Republicans want to end Social Security.
