Why this is such a bombshell is anyone's guess. To quote Matt Walsh, the media seems to "discover" that the Pences are Christians every two months or so, and they're shocked and outraged every time.

I'm not entirely certain what the problem is here. Obviously, given that they all basically used the same headline, they're up in arms yet again about Christians stubbornly insisting that "alternative" sexual behavior is not okay, in direct contradiction to the CLEAR dictates of the left. I'm just not sure if they're demanding that Christian private schools should endorse behavior they don't agree with, or if they're demanding that the Vice President's wife should have to get a job in a place she doesn't agree with.
‘Karen and Mike Pence are conservative, evangelical Christians who share beliefs about religion and politics. They have every right to do this. ("It's absurd that her decision to teach art to children at a Christian school, and the school's religious beliefs, are under attack," said Kara Brooks, a spokeswoman for Pence.) But consider Mike Pence's position of power in this country: He regularly stands shoulder to shoulder with his boss, Donald Trump. He has access to and can influence a President who is very interested in maintaining support among evangelicals.

For all their professed beliefs, Pence, and his wife, show unwavering support for a man who has been married three times, divorced twice, has had five children with three women and who has been accused of (though denies) paying a porn star and a Playboy model hundreds of thousands of dollars to conceal affairs he'd had with them.

The hypocrisy here, and indeed from white evangelical Trump supporters, is astonishing.’

Pence and his wife are at liberty to be ignorant, hateful bigots, just as the majority of the American people and the press are at liberty to condemn that ignorance, hatred, hypocrisy, and bigotry and acknowledge the fact that such Christian ‘values’ are in clear conflict with American values, and are considered to be repugnant to most Americans.

Meh. We'll know they are serious when they start addressing Pence's track record and not targeting his wife and kids. Pence and family are deeply religious. Not sure what the shock factor is. Christian schools are still Christian.

We know they're not serious because they went off the deep end when Pence respected his wife so much he refused to put himself in situations where he could be accused of impropriety.

Easy prediction 1.1:

Even now, somewhere in the United States, democrat operatives are feverishly attempting to put together a narrative that Mike Pence is so evil he once broke an old lady's window playing baseball and was spotted wearing white after Labor Day. Expect an anonymous woman to claim he once made her feel bad by refusing to date her, or something equally stupid.

They have no further to look than his track record.

And yet that will be of much less importance to them than any scandal they can create. Witness what happened to Kavanaugh. He had an excellent record with an extensive paper trail available for examination. Did we hear about any of his decisions on the bench? Nope. The same would be true of Pence, should it come to that.

Kavenaugh doesn't have an "excellent record". And the paper trail was kept from the Senators who asked to see it. You didn't hear about his decisions on the bench, or his work for the Bush Administration, because none of those records were provided to Senators, such was the rush on this nomination.

Horsecrap.

Kavanaugh was given a "well-qualified" rating by the Bar Association; fourteen cases he decided went on to the Supreme Court, and only one decision was reversed. That equals an excellent record as a judge.

Also, the Senate committee had access to every bit of information about him that they would have had for any nominee, and then some. The fact that the Democrats decided to demand insane amounts of information that was largely irrelevant just so they could claim it was "withheld" when it couldn't be produced within minutes is THEIR fault, no one else's. And the fact that you're gullible enough to blindly nod along with the talking point is your fault.

If you knew anything about Christians other than how to hate them and spout ridiculous garbage about how they "should" practice beliefs you don't even share, you would know that nothing about Christianity requires them to judge and shun other people for their mistakes for the rest of their lives. It's amazing how hypocritically jackwads like you want to screech and holler about Christians being "judgemental", and THEN holler when they aren't as judgemental as you would be if you embraced any morality at all.

Anyway, as I was saying, is this not exactly what the left has been demanding and harping on since forever? They keep insisting that they aren't attacking Christianity, they have no interest in suppressing Christianity. How many times have we heard this meme? "I just don't want the Bible shoved down my throat. Keep your religion to yourself, and we're fine."

Leaving aside arguments about how demanding self-censorship IS suppressing Christianity, are Karen Pence and Imanuel Christian not doing exactly what the left vehemently insists is "all they want"? They are not espousing their beliefs in a public school, or anywhere that receives any sort of public funds. They're a private school, on their own private property, and no one is being forced to hear or live with their beliefs who does not agree with them. Indeed, they are encouraging people who don't agree with them to not be there.

Is this not what the Left told us was "all they wanted"? And yet they're still pitching a media pissy fit over it. It's almost as though they've been lying all this time, or something.
I still don't see what the issue is.
The issue is: is being an ignorant, hateful bigot indeed ‘Christian’ – to the extent that gay and transgender Americans (most of whom are Christian) are to be demonized and excluded.

That the Vice President of the United States buys into this hate and bigotry is indeed newsworthy.

And it’s not a matter of the press being ‘surprised’ that Christian schools are ‘Christian,’ rather, it’s the press documenting the fact that for a school to propagate such hatred and bigotry behind the façade of religious dogma is wrong and reprehensible, and clearly in conflict with American values.

it is cecil and the posters in this thread that misrepresent the true religion by their manufactured document to continue the uninterrupted degradation recorded through history without the slightest amount of remorse.

what people do not realize is christianity has nothing to do with the timeperiod of recorded history their false religion claims to represent but is a fabrication written during the 4th century that culminated in a political document void of the principles for the 1st century's tragic conclusion to the extent of being the exact opposite in reality that persecutes and victimizes the very people that time period was dedicated to.

To Christophobes, there is no such thing as privately exercising religious beliefs. Note the narrative and how it shifts. First they demand that all faith be kept out of the public square. No religious displays on public property, etc. Then they demand that no public figure talk publicly about their faith or encourage anyone else to believe. All the while they contend that they just want you to keep it private, to yourself. Nope. Now they want to castigate a private citizen for exercising her faith in a private setting.

Let's face reality. Christophobes don't want anyone anywhere exercising any belief.

I'm big on the Establishment Clause. We need to maintain that. We need some consistency no matter whom is in office. We haven't had that. It makes the arguments ludicrous and they go nowhere.

The only argument that keeps popping up is because I don't like it.
Ok and then what?

Twenty years ago there were forums and groups where the discussions regarding religion were interesting and people discussed theology. There were people from all over the world and every religion or lack thereof conversed.

The issue isn't whether it's a private Christian school, and entitled by law to enclude anyone they consider "unsuitable", but whether the wife of the Vice-President of the United States should be working for an institution which displays such gross disrespect for the way Jesus lived his life, and the principles of equality and fairness to all Americans as enshrined in the Constitution.

Mrs. Pence is and should be held to a higher standard, than your run of the mill right wing bigot.

Mike Pence and Karen Pence show astonishing moral hypocrisy (opinion) - CNN

Pence and his wife are at liberty to be ignorant, hateful bigots, just as the majority of the American people and the press are at liberty to condemn that ignorance, hatred, hypocrisy, and bigotry and acknowledge the fact that such Christian ‘values’ are in clear conflict with American values, and are considered to be repugnant to most Americans.

No, you stupiid woman, it is YOU who knows nothing about Christians. We're not a homogenized group where everyone believes the same things. Since 67% of Americans approve of gay marriage, and 70% of Americans identify as "Christian", it is apparent to all but the most hopelessly stupid that a majority of Christians are not prejudiced and bigoted against gays, and that the position that the Pence have taken in this matter is not a "Christian" position as all since it's not shared by even a majority of Christians, but rather by a small subset of radicial right wing evangelical Christians who are out of touch with mainstream America.

Religion in America: U.S. Religious Data, Demographics and Statistics

So stop trying to pretend that our aversion to Mrs. Pence supporting radical right wing religious bigotry is somehow "anti-Christian" or unAmerican. It is the Pence's who are out of step with reality, not the rest of us.

It's still a private Christian school.

So, you would be happy if she just quit the job? Is that what it would take to resolve your issue? If not then what would it take?

The flip side of your argument is she is being held to a higher standard. It just so happens that it isn't a standard that you identify with. That is ok. The best that can be achieved is that it is a private Christian school.

could potentially face expulsion, according to the diocese.

it is cecil and the posters in this thread that misrepresent the true religion by their manufactured document to continue the uninterrupted degradation recorded through history without the slightest amount of remorse.

What do these posters need to do regarding their religion that will make you happy? What type of remorse do you need to see and for what specific crimes?

Surely you have an end.

A teen at the center of a video confrontation with a Native American organizer of a march in Washington, D.C., says he did nothing to provoke anyone and sought to calm the situation.

A Catholic diocese in Kentucky is condemning the actions of some students from its all-male high school mocking a Native American man after a rally in Washington.

In a joint statement to the Cincinnati Enquirer , the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School apologized to Nathan Phillips, an Omaha elder and Vietnam veteran who attended the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington on Friday. The march coincided with the annual March for Life, an anti-abortion rally attended by some students at Covington Catholic High School in northern Kentucky.

Sandman says the students began yelling "school spirit chants" to drown out the protesters ... an Omaha elder and Vietnam veteran who attended the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington on Friday.

a timely example of a christian academy persecuting and victimizing the innocent and lying about it as never having had remorse for any of their heathenistic assaults against the innocence of humanity uninterrupted since their fraudulent beginning.

That indicates a lengthier one without remorse. You are dodging the questions. What do these posters need to do regarding their religion that will make you happy? What type of remorse do you need to see and for what specific crimes?
