McConnell: No real deficit deal until Obama is gone

Wow, sounds good to me... Maybe the GOP really wants to do meaningful cuts, that would be a nice change.

President Obama currently has medicaid, medicare, and social security cuts on the table. Meanwhile, the GOP won't even close tax loopholes or cut the defense budget. And you think they want to do meaningful cuts?

Notice how the right wingers skipped right over this? Oh, but it's NOT about race. Sure it's not. Uh huh. Nothing to do with race.

i vote for the Green Party guy all the time Dean.....does that mean because i dont vote for the Black guy im a bigot?....

Talking shit again? Obama was willing to make cuts, you clueless dingbat.:cuckoo:

More cuts are needed.. including areas this guy will not touch... welfare, other entitlements, subsidies, reduction in the scope of government, elimination of entire sections of the fed, audits of military spending, stopping payment to military contractors that are not delivering, etc... the funnier thing is though, that Obama still has INCREASES in spending beyond the 'areas he wants to cut'

You claim to be an American, so why would you punish Americans with cuts, when all need be done is to bring ALL our troops home to US soil. There was no problem with the social programs under Clinton or Bush (until close to the end of his term), until he started his war mongering. End the military and all our economic problems will go away.

Yes... cutting and running does nothing but good  .... we don't have to pay soldiers when they are stateside  .. there are never expenses or operations when stateside

Reducing government spending effects government and those reliant on it instead of themselves.... so tough fucking titties... There were always problems with our social programs because in a free society, you ignorant piece of shit, you are supposed to be FUCKING RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF...

End yourself... it'll be better for mankind

Wow... simply sounds like this guy is saying what many of us have been saying all along... huge reductions in spending are absolutely needed...

Then why do they skip an opportunity to save 4 trillion dollars, reduce defense and entitlement spending, and end ethanol and oil subsidies?

Because he's increasing in other areas... his proposals are no smaller.. it is smoke and mirrors... it's like a piece of gauze trying to stop a semi-truck at 80MPH

c'mon.......only the intenet OCD contingent of fringe thinks the budget thing is racial.

How many people tune in to MSNBC in prime time at night? About 17? A watershed for the dickheads who say its racial.

What else can Obama do? The left doesn't want these on the table but he's doing it anyway. The sign of a "leader".

a "Leader" who has divided the Country even more, than what the Asshole before him had already done.....some "Leader"......where the hell is Bill Clinton?.......

As good an explanation for this as any:

Obviously, Obama has been positioning himself all along as the reasonable, centrist guy, willing to agree to trillions in spending cuts as long as Republicans are willing to close a few modest tax loopholes. Last week Republicans derided Obama's repeated focus on tax breaks for corporate jets as class warfare etc., but you know what? It must have been working. Somewhere down in the bowels of the GOP's polling operation, they must have discovered that the public was buying Obama's pitch that "the wealthy need to pitch in too."

Which, in a way, isn't surprising. Raising taxes on the rich has always polled well, and Republicans may have recently figured out that this support was more than just theoretical. Eventually Obama would have made his detailed proposals public, and apparently McConnell had started to realize that shutting down the government over tax breaks for hedge fund billionaires and shorter depreciation schedules for corporate jet owners was really, really, not going to go down well, even among Republicans. So he pushed the eject button and tried to bail out.

But it's not only that.

McConnell has stated he wants Obama to be a one term President..and now has stated that he won't do a deal until Obama is out of office.

Sounds like he his dictating who the American people should elect next time around.

That's not his place.

Still working on that reading comp??

A deal is unattainable, not that he won't deal.

And just how is it HIS fault that the country's gotten so divided? WTF is he supposed to do to unite people who obviously don't want to be united right now?

Yup, for Boner and McConnell a deal really is unattainable, since they have two factions who want different things. Their bosses in the Chamber of Commerce want them to just vote to raise the debt ceiling to protect their financial interests. At the same time, Tea Party nutbags want them to NOT vote for the debt ceiling increase because some are ignorant of how catastrophic default would be and others know and just want to see shit go downhill again because of who's President right now.

The mystical and magical insight that some conservatives seem to think they have into Obama's mind and his private thoughts is undoubtedly proof that they're mentally ill (in the clinical sense of the word).

What else could it be? Republicans don't live in this world. They live in a world where evolution doesn't exist. The first people were somehow "shimmered" into being by a magical god exactly as we are now in spite of all the geological, genetic and biological evidence.

As long as they see gay as a choice they don't have to admit being rotten bigots.

Neither one of their economic policies are based in data or study. Merely right wing "gut feelings".

They see education as liberal brainwashing.

And in their reality, with out taxes, without education, they just assume America will lead in science and technology.

Even though they believe science is a "faith" and technology is "really hard", they insist America will still "lead".

What the hell does evolution have to do with $14,000,000,000,000 in debt?

It's all part of the "alternate" universe Republicans live in.

I just watched Michelle Bachmann on Sean Hannity. It's all connected.

Republican views on everything. Guided by weird, fringe ideology. All their failed policies. They don't see them as "failed". They insist it's other people undermining their policies -keeping them from succeeding.

Obama didn't divide the country. Right wingers rejected the winner of the last presidential election.

McConnell: No real deficit deal until Obama is gone - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

The Senate's top Republican said Tuesday that he did not see a way for Republicans and Democrats to come to agreement on meaningful deficit reduction as long as President Obama remains in office.

Republicans are looking to cut trillions of dollars in federal spending, while Democrats are pushing for a more "balanced approach," which would include both spending cuts and higher revenue to the government.

-----------------

Wow, I thought when Republicans blackmailed the president into extending the Bush tax cuts by telling him they would cut off unemployment for millions of Americans was stepping "way over" the line.

But this? Blackmailing the entire country? Threatening the American people with economic collapse simply to get the black guy out of the WHITE House?

The number of government workers is 500,000 less than when Obama took office. We went from losing 800,000 jobs a month to positive job growth for 15 straight months. The DOW has gone up over 6,000 points. Obama got Bin Laden.

So what has Obama done that's so bad? Besides being "black"? And when you say things like "Colonial Kenyan Mau Mau", there is no doubt it's all about race. No doubt at all.

I think this shows the Republican's "True Colors".

And, somehow, the fact that Obama is unwilling to negotiate in good faith is the Republican's fault. Why am I not surprised?

After years of discussions and months of negotiations, I have little question that as long as this president is in the Oval Office, a real solution is probably unattainable,"
Just wow.

That's amazing.

His ass really needs a recall.

There is no recall for members of Congress. Thanks for showing your ignorance of the Constitution, again.

He does not.

What he put on the table, and the Democrats actually rejected out of hand, was a plan to change the way benefits are tied to the cost of living. This is actually a common sense adjustment that should have been done years ago, but the Democrats are unwilling to put common sense and the country ahead of playing politics. Maybe if we had a real president in office he could control his own party.

How many Democrats wanted Bush to be a one term president? Didn't they actually put someone up to take the job away from him in 2004? Why are the Republicans supposed to sit back and just give Obama a second term? Are you afraid he can't win twice if the Republicans run anyone against him, even Palin or Bachmann?

No Democratic politician even came close to saying anything so ridiculous and absurd about Bush. Either of them.

None?

Would you like to retract that now, or do you prefer to be grabbed by the scruff of your neck and have your nosed rubbed in the place you peed on the floor? Should I get out a rolled up newspaper to smack you with?

and for what? the forth time, enjoy:)

•Starting in 2013, the bill adds an additional 0.9% to the 2.9% Medicare tax for singles who earn more than $200,000 and couples making more than $250,000.

• For first time, the bill also applies Medicare’s 2.9% payroll tax rate to investment income, including dividends, interest income and capital gains. Added to the 0.9% payroll surcharge, that means a 3.8-percentage point tax hike on “the rich.” Oh, and these new taxes aren’t indexed for inflation, so many middle-class families will soon be considered rich and pay the surcharge as their incomes rise past $250,000 due to tax-bracket creep. Remember how the Alternative Minimum Tax was supposed to apply only to a handful of millionaires?

• Also starting in 2013 is a 2.3% excise tax on medical device manufacturers and importers. That’s estimated to raise $20 billion.

• Already underway this year is the new annual fee on “branded” drug makers and importers, which will raise $27 billion.

• Another $15.2 billion will come from raising the floor on allowable medical deductions to 10% of adjusted gross income from 7.5%.

• Starting in 2018, the bill imposes a whopping 40% “excise tax” on high-cost health insurance plans. Though it only applies to two years in the 2010-2019 window of ObamaCare’s original budget score, this tax would still raise $32 billion—and much more in future years.

• And don’t forget a new annual fee on health insurance providers starting in 2014 and estimated to raise $60 billion. This tax, like many others on this list, will be passed along to consumers in higher health-care costs.

Facts don't matter to either of them.

The president offered 4 trillion dollars worth of cuts.

He offered the larger cuts to entitlements than any president in history.

(Larger than ANYTHING proposed by Reagan)

(Much larger than anything proposed by Bush)

(The GOP leadership is insane. They don't care about the budget (which was evident under Bush). They only care about fighting Obama. If Obama agrees to spending cuts, they don't want 'em)
