This is a capitalism-limerick inspired by Casino.

It's dedicated to Donald Trump(!).

Cheers,

Alastair was an English prince studying the psycho-sociological impact of consumerism on folk traditions. Alastair mostly examined the social symbolism of commerce-relevant/symbolic avatars such as Richie Rich (Harvey Comics), Kingpin (Marvel Comics), and Citizen Kane (Orson Welles). He wanted to understand how consumer behaviors affected everyday psychology and how it reoriented perspectives on convenience/labor, laziness/gluttony, mischief/irreverence, and piracy/storytelling. How did humanity view the old-world fortune-hunting exploits of the pirate Blackbeard in this modern world of capitalism-bravado (i.e., Wall Street)?

Alastair became obsessed with the personification of Barbie dolls and why these American play-dolls signified a modern sociological focus on beauty and ornamentation as they pertained to convenience and consumption. Why was Aunt Jemima pancake-syrup ethnically-oriented? Did the Statue of Liberty symbolize commerce as well as enlightenment? Were American TV shows such as The Bionic Woman and Charlie's Angels representative of fashion flowery? Alastair brooded much about these questions. He wanted to 'dissect' Planet Hollywood.

When the aspiring underdog Philadelphia Eagles (NFL) defeated the seemingly-indomitable and incredibly-lucky New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52 [2018], Alastair noted the grand victory-parade held for the triumphant Eagles in the pluralism-commercial American city of Philadelphia. Philadelphia was noted for its cheesesteaks and Philadelphia Cream Cheese, while New England was famed for its iconic 'New England Clam Chowder.' How would the Eagles' victory-parade in Philadelphia impact sales/merchandising for that year? Would there be 'ghosts of consumer-regrets' (or gamblers' angst)? Numerous people had bet on the Patriots and the few who bet on the Eagles won big! It was a media broche.

Alastair began watching episodes of Charlie's Angels (about female covert-agents in America) and noted how Americans seemed to be fascinated with the ornamentation of labor as it related to modern complex/commercial traffic (e.g., Chinatown, San Francisco). Alastair realized that the fictional female covert-agents in Charlie's Angels were 'archetypes' of the commerce-consciousness 'imagination' of everyday Americans(!). Alastair began wondering if ghosts in this new age would be interested in haunting shopping malls and carnivals rather than libraries and castles!

Alastair visited a shopping mall in America which had closed down and obtained permission to walk around inside (he told the managers/guards that he was a journalist working for the royal-family in England!). Alastair wandered around the mall, taking photos with his smartphone. He intended to create a collage with these photos and write a short-story about a ghost or phantom haunting this mall, now that it was officially closed/out-of-business. Alastair took some really nice photos and was pleased, but suddenly he noticed the misty figurine of a slender woman (apparently a spectre or ghost!). Alastair ran towards her but she disappeared. He always wondered if he saw a ghost or hallucinated the entire event.

GOD: It seems Alastair has found his subject-material!
SATAN: Yes; he was curious about 'commerce-metaphysics.'
GOD: He won't soon forget that mall ghost he encountered.
SATAN: Alastair still wonders if he hallucinated the entire ordeal.
GOD: He'll be more sensitive about the complexities of consumerism.
SATAN: He sure will, and I'm willing to bet he'll keep watching Charlie's Angels.
GOD: Americans are big fans of candy/junk-food.
SATAN: It's part of the 'carnivale-spirit' of America (e.g., Atlantic City).
GOD: We might see more and more ghosts haunting the Boardwalk, eh?
SATAN: That seems 'plausible.'
GOD: Maybe teenage girls will use Ouija boards to contact Farah Fawcett(!).
SATAN: Yes, television is changing 'civil spiritualism.'
GOD: Why was that ghost haunting the mall Alastair was photographing?
SATAN: Perhaps the ghost whispered to Alastair, "Shopping is subjective."
GOD: I think capitalism will become an 'apologetics urn.'
SATAN: Everything depends on responsible journalism (i.e., Bloomberg).
