Low Income Voters (>$50,000/year) Put Joe in the White House

So make the tax code... the first 50 thousand dollars tax free. No federal tax.
I wonder if we could double that amount (first $100,000) if the richest 0.1% and the corporations that generate their obscene levels of wealth were taxed at the same levels as 70 years ago?

Its easier to go out and vote yourself a living instead of earning one, that's for sure. And that's the Democrat secret, Free Stuff is what a lot of people want.
When productive capitalism matures into monopoly finance capitalism and the for-profit sector can no longer generate an adequate supply of living wage jobs, government is the best and only alternative:

Monopoly Capital - Wikipedia

"Monopoly Capital: An Essay on the American Economic and Social Order is a 1966 book by the Marxian economists Paul Sweezy and Paul A. Baran. It was published by Monthly Review Press.

"It made a major contribution to Marxian theory by shifting attention from the assumption of a competitive economy to the monopolistic economy associated with the giant corporations that dominate the modern accumulation process."

That was because the people were allowed to keep more of their money as they earned it, instead of having it taken from by the IRS and then refunded at the end of the year....Not that hard to realize this..
Even before Don the Con mishandled the MAGA virus, US consumer debt was at record levels
19955.jpeg

"To make things worse, Americans were shouldering a record amount of debt, even before the pandemic hit.

"Total household debt in the United States, including mortgages, auto loans, credit card and student debt, climbed to $14.30 trillion in the first quarter of 2020, eclipsing the previous peak at the height of the great recession in Q3 2008 by $1.62 trillion in nominal terms."

Lower taxes helped goose profits and stocks, but did little for jobs or the economy, and what middle class benefits were provided are slated to end before 2030.

Well duh!!

Of course those who have their palms out for government entitlements will ALWAYS vote for the Dimocrat!!

Did the OP just land here?
Palms like these?

"Fossil fuels billionaire Charles Koch, the invisible hand behind the worst instincts of the Trump administration, has launched more deception with an apology tour, a new book and interviews last week with the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal...."

"Not helping Koch’s apology tour is the fact that his outside corporate law firm, Jones Day, which installed 12 of its law partners in the Trump administration on the very day of Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2017, was one of the law firms recently attempting to advance Trump’s prospects through the courts by stopping the counting of ballots."

Have you figured out who LOST the last election yet?:auiqs.jpg:

It should tell Democrats something they can't win without buying votes.

It should...but it won't.
It tells Democrats and Republicans corporate oligarchs have bought the electoral process, the courts and media, and the lobbyists who write the legislation that allows one percent of Americans to accumulate obscene amounts of wealth and unchecked political power.

Those who "think" Don the Con's a populist aren't likely to notice.

No, George, Communism won't work here. It hasn't worked anywhere. And you will NOT be given a seat on the Politburo.

Goodness, I can't imagine why Comrade George is ignoring this post.
Still waiting for the first indication you grasp the distinction between...:bigbed:
Unearned+vs.+earned+income.jpg

"There are two types of income: earned and unearned, aka economic rent.

"Economic Rent = Price — Intrinsic Cost Value
"Economic rent is the portion of earnings obtained not through one’s work, but via monopoly privilege (eg. land ownership).

"There are two economies, the 'real' economy and the rentier/parasite economy.

  • "The real economy consists of activity that actually contributes to society (eg. farming, manufacturing, healthcare)
  • The parasite economy extracts wealth away from the real economy, adding unnecessary overhead to and shrinking the real economy. This is comprised of the FIRE sector (Finance, Insurance, Real Estate), monopolies, etc."
Neofeudalism and the Parasite Economy — Summarizing Michael Hudson

That is a lot of money. But a pittance to what tis needed for living over our heads. Real cuts are needed in all levels of Federal government as well as state, local and city governments.
Cutting federal stimulus in the middle of a pandemic/recession will have a Herbert Hoover-like effect on tens of millions of Americans who are at risk of losing everything, including their shelter. Only federal government spending is capable of generating the multiplier effect necessary to prevent the economy from sliding into another Great Depression.

How does one survive on 50 grand in today's america? That isn't anything that one works too hard for is it?

What percentage of voters earning less than $50,000 a year would you classify as political "moderates"? How many of those voters would benefit from Medicare for All or partial amortization of all student debt?

"NOVEMBER 13, 2020
Low Income Voters Turned Out for Biden, Now They Need Relief
BY SARAH ANDERSON – MARGOT RATHKE"

"According to early polls, voters with household incomes of less than $50,000 in 2019 broke for Biden by 55 to 43 percent — a 12 point margin, compared to 8 four years ago.

"This helped overcome Trump’s gains among households with incomes above $100,000 — from 45 percent in 2016 to just over half in 2020.

"At least 6 million more people in low-income households voted in 2020 compared to 2016."

Once again, Democrats lost the White vote.

What happened in 1964 to cause that?

so
according to conservatives

land area is more important than popular vote

and the votes of poorer people dont count

Thanks for the John Laurits article, which attempts to use “Modern Monetary Theory” for “anti-capitalist” educational purposes. I’ve been thinking along similar lines — at my own staid pace. The reality of our modern crony-capitalist Federal Reserve-dominated fiat money and credit based too-big-to-fail corporate and Wall Street economy is finally being analyzed in new ways — even by hardcore capitalist economists themselves. I think it is good to see it being discussed popularly even in places like USMB.

Not sure I agree with Chris Hedges and others on all these matters, but I certainly agree with you on trying to hammer into everybody’s head the differences between earned and unearned incomes, the absurd way we think about — and carry out — taxation and government spending, and the increasing madness of U.S. society as a whole. Lots of food for serious thought here.

P.S. Here is a short intro to what “Modern Monetary Theory” is:

The election turned because college-educated white voters - particularly college-educated women - swung hard for Biden.

Calls for "socialism" hurt Democrats in swing districts, cost them the Senate and almost cost them the House.

The issue I have is Biden and Democrats should have won by more... They are on the popular side on nearly all the issues.

Their main problem is that they let the right define them. Right wing spend all day shouting Socialist and Communist, Democrats should simply answer that the policies they are going for in Healthcare is the same as Germany and there economy is better than US.

Some one should explain to AOC that the best way for universal healthcare is for America to get public option and see if they like that step and do they want to make a further step... Shut up on calling people out... I am not saying she is wrong and I encourage shooting for the stars but don't let the perfect get in the way of the the good.

Democrats have to be very forceful in clearly articulating there agenda and show it working in other countries... The GOP just want to keep shit the same way it is, this is an easier sell..
Other countries need the US military you fuck face
