Lie of the year, 2011 yeah it's democrats

Most of those who said the Ryan Medicare plan ended Medicare said that it ended Medicare as we know it.

Replacing the current system with a mandatory voucher system that requires seniors to buy coverage from private companies is in no way 'Medicare as we know it'.

Not a lie. The absolute truth.

Replacing something that doesn't work with something that does is bad????

I'm trying to figure out your point. You want to defend an indefensible position it seems.

The Ryan Plan will end Medicare as we know it.......

Course Seniors only listen to the "END MEDICARE" part.

The left uses this tactic a lot.

They figure enough will misunderstand the truth about the statement and the scare-tactic will fool plenty of old folks into voting against the scary Republicans. Never mind that the statement is a bit misleading.

Problem is I've heard too many Democraps claim the plan will end Medicare.....period. So your defense is horseshit.

Let's move onto several other lies by the left.

Ed Schultz claims that the Tea Party Republicans want to destroy the economy by stopping a tax-cut.

EXCUSE ME????

Since when have Democraps believed that tax-cuts do anything to help the economy???

Big-time lie exposed here....yet they say it with a straight face and some may not even know they've painted themselves into a corner.....but it really doesn't matter because their media refuses to call them on it.

How about their claim that the Bush Tax-cuts were only "Tax-cuts for the rich"????

Yet now Obama says he wants those same tax-cuts put into law for 2 months.

So who's side is he on? The rich???

Sure sounds like it.

He says it's better to pass this 2 month measure rather than doing it for a year.....and in the same breath claims they're saving us a thousand dollars.

Lie.....it's only saving us about a hundred dollars. If it had been extended for a year it would have been a thousand dollars.....exactly what the Tea Party Republicans wanted.

What about the claims that the GOP wants dirty air and dirty water.

They base this off of their usual monkeying with EPA regulations. Regulations they know full well are ridiculous. Nobody gets cleaner air and cleaner water with them. They only get a bigger electric bill.

Truth is when you're dealing with fuckers that constantly lie and parse words you can never make them tell the whole truth.

Best thing to do is just assume they're lying until it can be proved otherwise.

RUSH: Part and parcel, folks, of being an elite is thinking everybody else is dumber than you are! Part and parcel of being an elite or an elite wannabe is thinking everybody's stupid compared to you.

Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

RUSH: I think that's the fastest way to persuade people, you know, is to ridicule and make fun of the people that you're having problems with.
Ed the liar at his very best at failing.

How the fuck can ANY lies be involved? The only thing out there for comment is a couple of opinions from myself, one from ed, and a couple of well-worn talking points by The Rabbi.

Why is it people insist on calling opinions that they disagree with "lies"? :dunno: It's laughable.

The programmed answer of a typical ELITIST CON$ervative ALINSKYITE.

If you would read some of his fucked up shit you would see they are lies. Conservative ALINSKYITE? Are you insane? But when someones opinion is all they can give like it's the truth well hell yes it is a lie.

Most of those who said the Ryan Medicare plan ended Medicare said that it ended Medicare as we know it.

No such qualifier is necessary (nor does it add anything to the assertion); it certainly doesn't enhance the truth value of the statement, since the statement is already true. Politifact just screwed the pooch on this one.

If you change one word of the Medicare legislation, then it's no longer "Medicare as we know it." All you've said is that you've changed Medicare. It's pretty hard to change Medicare to make it solvent without changing Medicare. The phrase is so elastic that it's meaningless. It's just a cheap propaganda ploy.

BTW, Obama already "ended Medicare as we know it" with his Obamacare legislation.

I'll give you one thing: liberals are geniuses when it comes to conjuring up sleazy talking points designed to fool the gullible.

Provide a link and maybe we can judge the context.

Which puts the lie to Obama's claim that somebody on the right is the one guilty of playing political games.

To the original quote.

We're talking about something someone claims to have seen. I'd rather see the whole statement so I can ascertain the context.

Well,

Actually, it was the Mayo Clinic in AZ that voted to end taking medicare payments.

Mayo facility in W. Valley to stop taking Medicare payments

The Mayo Clinic announced in October that its Arrowhead Family Medicine practice will stop taking Medicare payments for primary-care services. The policy goes into effect Jan. 1, affecting about 3,000 seniors. Five doctors have practices at the clinic.
"We tend to see more Medicare patients in that area," said Lyn Closway, Mayo spokeswoman. "This is a (two-year) pilot, and we will re-evaluate or reassess this after an appropriate period of time."

For Mayo Clinic, the cost of providing services to Medicare patients exceeded the total amount paid on behalf of Medicare patients by $840 million in 2008, according to the hospital.

"Government payers, without question, are the worst payers in health care," said John Rivers, president of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association. "Medicare shortfalls in hospital payments represent nearly $1 billion in Arizona alone. And those costs ultimately get shifted onto the backs of privately insured individuals in the form of a hidden health-care tax."

Better than the socialist left idea. Dimwits suck.

Why?

What makes an economy with a distribution of wealth curve as skewed as ours a good thing?

you could try a communist country,, that might suit you better.

I think I would prefer the bullshit I know.

Besides, that's not an answer to the question...

I repeat: What makes an economy with a distribution of wealth curve as skewed as ours a good thing?

Anyone at all.

I hear everyone in North Korea makes exactly the same amount.

That has nothing to do with a balanced distribution of wealth curve as a simple gauge of how well an economy is running.

I say the wealth distribution curve of a healthy economy will resemble a nice smooth bell, with most of the wealth in the hands of most of the people, and tapers at the extremes proving the value of hard work on one side and the trials of life on the other.

What makes an economy run better with a distribution of wealth curve skewed towards a favored class like ours is?

Educate me.

The quote in question is "Republicans voted to End Medicare." As in "Lie of the Year 2011: 'Republicans voted to end Medicare.'"

That statement remains accurate. Politifact just screwed the pooch on this one.

I read it.

The statement is not accurate because they never voted to end Medicare.....merely to change it to something that works. It's still going to be called Medicare.

However if something isn't done soon doctors will begin dropping their Medicare patients because the percentage it pays will soon change. Who's at fault for this is up to debate.....but one thing is for certain.....the GOP controlled House has nothing to do with that.

Given the mobility we have....it means you can get some of that wealth if that is what tickles your pickle.

The central concept behind Medicare is a guaranteed benefit offered by a public health insurer that pays doctors and hospitals for medical services rendered to beneficiaries. The GOP voted to dismantle that insurer ("Medicare") and to instead tell the elderly to go look for an Aenta or Anthem plan like everyone else. The fact that old folks will get a coupon in the process isn't some saving grace that undoes the destruction of Medicare.

However if something isn't done soon doctors will begin dropping their Medicare patients because the percentage it pays will soon change. Who's at fault for this is up to debate.....but one thing is for certain.....the GOP controlled House has nothing to do with that.

Ironically, that situation is a product of a different GOP-controlled House; Newt's 1997 House produced the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, which needs to be manually overridden by Congress from time to time to prevent huge cuts in physician reimbursements.
