I have worked in hosptals almost all of my adult life-------I have seen mothers lying on the emergency room floor screaming (some kid found dad's gun)
Negligent gun storage is no excuse for blaming the gun.

It is the fault of the negligent gun owner.

No sense in punishing others who are responsible gun owners.

Yeah.......out of 357 million guns in private hands about 50 kids a year have that happen.........and the relevance to this thread would be?
The back yard swimming pool is much more likely to kill your child than your gun and therefore we should outlaw swimming pools?
Back yard pools can be required to have safety devices that make them inaccessible to those not responsible enough to have adult access.

More ridiculous analogies. Nobody carries their fricking swimming pool around with them in public for kids to drown in, and yes many jurisdictions have safety regulations for them, too. Well, we know for a fact that many Americans, and 'everybody else' on the planet, will manage to harm a s many people as they can in pursuit of their own self-interests with few objections and to hell with 'everybody else' for the most part, with a few exceptions, like Christians and some Buddhists or other, and most regulations come about because 'The People' themselves demand them, and most business regulations come from businessmen, etc., etc., so the basis of arguments that 'government intrusions' come from outer space and all govt. employees are space aliens who just drop in from nowhere and start ordering us around as many of the right wingers obviously believe or try to peddle as a narrative is morphed into a form of insanity built on circular reasoning, and people are right to ignore them and get along with trying to come up with real solutions, and not allowing people with no basic rudimentary training in firearms being free to walk around in public places with them is just stupid, period.

More to the point, guns already have such regulations as well. Those that are not responsible are bared from owning a firearm and firearm design and sales are heavily regulated.
