My fears or my reason's?

Can you just imagine what this planet would be like with those things? I'd say we have enough on our plates at the moment.

Joz, I don't think "turning them lose" is the idea. Clone one or two to study, and keep them in an enclosure.

I really wonder how strong one of those things actually is.

Yes, most assuredly clone them, but do they make good pets?

Actually, the DNA would be totally thrashed after 70 million years. Cloning needs accurate DNA sequencing.....

Even the frozen, soft tissue of frozen Wooly Mammoths found up in the Arctic regions has not been cloned as of yet. Some of the Mammoth tissue samples are no more than 10,000 years old, and there are problems with getting decent DNA samples that aren't damaged. Now multiply the age of the Mammoth tissue samples by 7,000 and you get the T-rex sample.

I think there is a serious attempt ongoing to try and bring back a Mammoth utilizing DNA from them. I'm not savvy on how it's done. It would be quite a land-mark thing.

Very cool. So long as they didn't make a breeding pair I can't see why we shouldn't go ahead and clone the beast.

What if they find out the things were peaceful and needed those big legs to run away and the big teeth were really just camouflage?

That is a GREAT WEBSITE!

Thanks Cp! I think it is an eye-opener when it comes to modern science  . They have weekly e-newsletters, too. And they are building a museum in Northern Kentucky. I plan to ake my kids.
