Dingell Won't Seek Re-Election - NBC News


John Dingell is the longest serving member of the US House of Representatives, ever.
At the end of his term, he will have served 60 years as a Representative from the Wolverine State.

As information on the primary field for his seat comes out, I will report.

Michigan's primary date is August 5th, in about 5 1/2 months.


For the longest serving member of the US HOR, expect a nice ceremony for him sometime in December.

His Wife, Debbie Dingel, is running for the seat.

If she wins, then that means a Dingell has been a representative in congress since 1933, from Michigan, all three of them: John, his Dad and then his wife.

She is heavily favored to win.

You said nothing derogatory to me and you did not bother me, either. Apparently, you place way too much value on the impression you make on me. I promise you, you definitely don't need to do that.

My point is that this is simply a polite informational thread about a longstanding member of Congress who is leaving. Like him or hate him, he has served longer than any other human being in the HOR and that is worthy of respect, imo.


You don't know me well enough to know that in the past, I have also commemorated Right-leaning legislators as well.
