Its time for the Democrats to lock up the Senate for good

You are right, they are not a state, that should be rectified. Or else we should just go ahead and force Wyoming to have it's Senator's absorbed by a nearby state as well.
Since this escapes you:

By that logic, Alaska should have about 150 Reps. Of course DC has more population. But I guess that the GOP has never been big on the one man one vote thing.

It seems you and logic are not well aquinted friend.

Your argument revolves around states not being states based on population, a, shall we say, 'odd' postion.

Actually I'm being nice, its inane.

A remedy was already sugested, several in fact that are inline with teh constitution.

Tell us why you don't like those.

Of course I wasn't actually saying that Wy. should be absorbed by another state, you apparently aren't associated with sarcasm.

However, there is nothing preventing DC from becoming a state. Only the GOP.

Also to your other point, the GOP has not been supportive of DC becoming part of Virginia because the increase in VA's population would likely lead to more D Governors as well as more D congressmen. Furthermore, not surprisingly, VA has not been high on absorbing DC as the city has systemic problems spawned from its years of haphazard hybrid governance between the city and the federal government.

Well i have to strongly disagree with you on this one. I think it is vital for the Republicans to regain some power. Right now there just aren't any real Checks & Balances on this White House. They have complete control of our Government and our Media at this point. You know what that usually results in?...An oppressive Dictatorship. Checks & Balances are vital to our Nation. So while i am not currently a big Republican fan,i do think it is vital that they regain some power. Hey just my opinion anyway.

While the Democrats are in control, its time for them to push for the District of Columbia to be properly represented in Congress.
Two Senators and one Representative would give the Democrats a huge margin in the Senate that will be hard for the republicans to overcome

I don't know if you have noticed but the democrats already control the house, the senate and the Presidency. They could pass all that you need and desire without ONE Republican vote.

Good luck, but I am betting against that, measuring the mood of this country. Virginia and New Jersey, strong DEMOCRATIC states with strong democratic voters and the REPUBLICANS are ahead in the polls for the governor race that's going to happen this November. I will be watching MSNBC with popcorn and a beer, should prove to be very entertaining.:lol:

Seriously, you would have to be completely insane to rush out there and vote for more Socialist Democrats. Every area of this country controlled by Socialist Democrats has rapidly become a miserable Third World Nightmare. If you don't believe me then just go ahead and do your own research. More Socialist Democrats?? Yikes!

I'd be in favor of granting representation to DC as long as we can also grant representation to:
West Texas
North Alaska

These of course would become states while Texas and Alaska continued on with diminished borders.

Split CA into three states

and give Washington DC residents 3/5 of a vote LOL (Ok, maybe that wasn't as funny as I thought)

They shouldn't grant DC voting rights out of some cynical attempt to rig the Senate. They should do it because it is an abomination to have a district with more residents than the entire state of Wyoming not allowed any voice whatsoever in national politics while still paying their full amount of taxes. It is unamerican.

The point is that it will be strongly resisted because those will become automatic Democratic seats

Exactly. It has nothing to do with equal rights or representation. If DC was GOP territory the arguments would probably be switched.

There's a good little fascist. :clap2: :eusa_hand:

That's not quite what the founders had in mind, I'm guessing.

That is how our country was built.

Do you think these considerations did not come into play when new states were added to the union? Its what helped start the Civil War

You failed civics...and history, didn't you?

Harry Reid will lose his seat and in NJ where Dead Democrats Voters outnumber Living Republicans Gov Corzine is in a horse race.

Dream On, McDoof

Corzine is no longer in the Senate McDoof

Corzine in the Dem Governor of one of the worst run single party controlled states in the nation (MI is still the worst) and even against a stupid boob of a Republican candidate ACORN is going to have to work OVERTIME making up votes to keep him driving the state to bankruptcy.

Corzine will probably win, but I'm shorting Dem futures in this market

Christie is still ahead, but Corzine has gained ground since running two stunningly brilliant and original smear slogans:

1) Chris Christie, Bush's friend, Bush's policies ( Of course the policies part is another lie, but who's counting ? )

2) Chris Christie is too fat to be Governor.

Demographics will do that for them anyway.

The only reason the GOP stands to make gains in 2010 is because mid term elections have a much larger white vote than usual. And the GOP had become the party of angry, rural white people.

But hey, you'll always have South Carolina and Utah!
