Is there anyone left who thinks marijuana should be illegal?

You can have that freedom.... when you can guarantee me that I won't be picking up the tab for it. Until then, forget it.

You're already picking up the tab to enforce the draconian laws as well as paying for the propaganda to wage a so called war against your fellow citizens.

I don't care. I care that there is a vast amount of research linking MJ to mental illness, and, by the evidence on this board... it also causes terminal stupidity. I do not want my medical costs to go up because a bunch of morons aren't capable of getting through life without 'self medicating'. You want to do pot, fine, have at it. Just guarantee you won't be a burden on me. Pay for your own mental problems.

first off.....you lie...

there is NOT a VAST AMOUNT of research linking pot with mental illness

I have seen SOME LIMITED and QUESTIONABLE research making these links but I don't actually believe them

you appear to CHOOSE to believe them because of your biases and agenda

I know MANY people in their 40's, 50's, 60's who have been smoking pot since they were teenagers...

NONE of them exhibit any mental illness whatsoever

I'm almost sixty and have been smoking it (less now than 10 years ago ) since I was 18 and have developed NO mental illnesses whatsoever

as for medical costs going up (I agree with you)
our medical costs go up because irresponsible conservatives smoke tobacco, refuse to diet, eat fatty foods, drink alcohol...

I wish I had all THAT money back

but if I were to suggest criminalizing alcohol or tobacco or fatty foods YOU would be amongst the first to shout "liberal freedom hating nanny state lover taking away our RIGHTS and FREEDOMS!"

I agree that noboy should have to pay for the medical bills of irresponsible people who smoke tobacco or pot or drink alcohol or eat fatty foods....

but in a FREE country people should have the right to pick their own poisons and NOT BE TOLD by nanny state conservatives who HATE FREEDOM what they can or can't do with their own bodies

you can keep eating at mcdonalds and smoking your tobacco...

let the pot smokers have THEIR freedom, too

Yes many still think pot should be illegal.

I lean more towards it being legal as booze is.

But I do not think legalizing it would benefit our society.

I'm 25, weed was more available in my middle school and high school than alcohol and cigarettes. If I wanted to I could've smoked weed everyday for free.

Making marijuana illegal just means moving the industry into the hands of terrorists, gang bangers and foreign druglords and out of the hands of the american economy, american corporations and the american farmer.

Just curious.

Do you think hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars should be spent on keeping this drug illegal?

Seems most people I talk to of any political leaning seem to think this is a stupid concept, and I would agree.

Disclaimer= I've never smoked pot in my life, so no silly pothead assumptions please.

Yes... I am one who still supports it and other drugs being illegal... and my mind will not change on that

No, I do not lie. You are just an hysterical moron. There is vast amounts of research which clearly demonstrates the link between MJ and mental illness. Every single country in Europe accepts the results.... because the research is properly funded (by medical research councils) and shows results from longitudinal study results confirming the link. It's there. It's like cigarettes and lung cancer - you can deny it from now till doomsday, it will not change the facts.

Until a test is developed that allows employers to determine whether or not their employees are "high", similar to breathalyzers and blood tests utilized for alcohol testing today, then yes, in my opinion, it should remain outlawed.
.....So, what you're suggesting is preemptive-striking....rather-than testing (only) those who've shown some problematic-behavior, at work, huh??

Then it shouldn't be too hard to find one.

I think maijuana is a natural plant placed on this earth by God for many reasons.. just like other herbs, for our benefit. I don't have a problem in legalizing marijuana.. it's the other drugs the Anarchists want legalized I take issue with.
Hmmmmmmmm.....so, your drug (whatever that might be....alcohol?) is cool.....but, not anyone else's.....right?

What do you plan on doing about those folks who step on your toes....when they're certain your choice is wrong??

So if someone's acting fine and doing their job fine they should be fired from what this test says?

How about if someone acts lazy and doesn't get their job done they should be fired? Stoned or not?
Bingo!!!!!

Yeah, yeah "i never smoked the stuff but I knowed somebody who done it". Give it a rest Doc. Pot heads can get a couple of seeds and grow a tree in their garage and smoke the stuff until they become complete idiots but that ain't what the issue is about. They want to make a buck off it by selling it to our kids. It's pretty strange that while the government is cracking down on cigarette smoking there is a movement to sell stuff that will rot your lungs out faster and cause all sorts of problems including fires from idiots who leave a roach burning and impared driving.

reefer_madness.jpg

The same freaking hypocrites (including the left wing sewer workers who call themselves right wing) would be horrified if they found their kids smoking weed but in the emotion based liberal mind it's still cool so they still have to be cool and opt to make it legal.

Who cares?

I used to go high a couple times to work when I used to smoke with my co-workers and never had a complaint. Put some eye drops and act "normal" and you're good.

It actually made my job a lot more enjoyable and if I ever had to work extra I didn't mind doing some extra work.

But hey that's just me.

And thank God, that's "just you". I dono't necessarily want people in our food chain, weapons handling, nuclear rectors, etc simply "acting normal"....
Yeah....how're you expected to eliminate any o' the competition/social-defectives....if everyone's acting NORMAL!!!!!

I guess you could always accuse them o' being a communist....or, a witch.

Well That's the million dollar question. It it a weed or a herb?
It it's a weed it's part of the curse from Adam and Eve.
Ah, yes......where's a talking-snake when you folks are badly-in-need of one?

Yes, and Yes!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh.....so job-performance is less-important, to you, than someone's personal-preferences, huh?

Hmmm, good point-

Shaman you've seen my other posts in this thread, I think I've stated rather clearly I think it should be legalized.

If I'm a boss and I have someone not doing their job to my expectations and it's because they're stoned yes I'll fire them. Doesn't mean I don't want it legalized.

Well I worked at a Hockey Rink so I don't see harm in that.

But, I don't think it'd be very fair being high when working in such places which you mentioned above.
....Especially when VaYank5150 has decided there should be strict-limitations on the number o' people running-around, "acting normal", right?

Sorry, this seems entirely fabricated. But to give you the doubt, please explain some things to enlighten the rest of us. First of all, WHICH mental illnesses? There's a huge difference between schizophrenia and claustrophobia. What kinds of mechanisms of action occur? How were the experiments designed? Also, can you provide evidence of your claim, like links to news articles. How do you reconcile your claim with other evidence to the contrary (wikipedia has a well referenced article about marijuana that states no long term behavioral effects have been linked to usage). Have alternative interpretations been ruled out? For example, one prevalent theory in the mental health community holds that links between certain mental illnesses and drug usage tend to be instances of self medication attempts.

I would have no problem with a job firing someone for testing positive for marijuana even if it were legal.

It's legal for me to look at porn but if i do it at work you can rest assured I'll be fired.
Your ignorance is showing.......

BTW.....the fact you even CONSIDER the possibility of looking at porn (at work), makes you a pervert in a lotta people's eyes.

Why should they risk....or, be forced....to work with/around you????

:eusa_eh:

No it should be legal. I don't smoke it often but I have seen many people at my frat having to be sent to the hospital for Alcohol poisoning, I can count off hand 6 times as Social chair that I had to take people to the hospital since if it was at our house, we would have been kicked out of greek life.

Not once did someone have Marijuana poisoning. I mean their is no reason that if Alcohol is legal that Marijuana should be illegal.

the fact that you call me a "hysterical moron" is just what I would expect from a hysterical conservative moron.

I have tried to be polite to you over the years but apparently your insane anger and self-righteous dictatorial behavior is something that you just can't overcome.

I am NOT hysterical and i Am NOT a MORON

you PROVIDE no links...
just some vague reference to VAST AMOUNTS of RESEARCH that you can not provide any link to...

the facts are (you ignorant little conservative nanny state freedom hating fukkface)
MILLIONS of people smoke pot
they smoke it for YEARS
they do NOT EXHIBIT any mental illness (certainly none approaching what YOU appear to have)
pot is LESS DANGEROUS than alcohol (do you want alcohol criminalized? no? hypocrite)
pot is less dangerous than tobacco (do you want tobacco criminalized? no? hypocrite)
it's less dangerous than fatty foods and football and boxing..(you want to criminalize these? no? hypocrite)

even if it is true (which I doubt and you can NOT PROVE) that pot causes medical problems it is EQUALLY TRUE (or MORE TRUE) that alcohol, tobacco and fatty foods ALSO cause many (more) medical problems.

I have no doubt that you don't want any of THOSE criminalized

all which leads us to one conclusion

you are a deranged, hypocritical, hysterical conservative moron who wants a nanny state and hates freedom
