Is there anyone left who thinks marijuana should be illegal?

Who cares?

I used to go high a couple times to work when I used to smoke with my co-workers and never had a complaint. Put some eye drops and act "normal" and you're good.

It actually made my job a lot more enjoyable and if I ever had to work extra I didn't mind doing some extra work.

But hey that's just me.

And thank God, that's "just you". I dono't necessarily want people in our food chain, weapons handling, nuclear rectors, etc simply "acting normal"....

Well I worked at a Hockey Rink so I don't see harm in that.

But, I don't think it'd be very fair being high when working in such places which you mentioned above. Well maybe except in a fast food restaurant.

There's the difference.

Are you high now? Fast Food Restaurants = a part of our food chain!

I would have no problem with a job firing someone for testing positive for marijuana even if it were legal.

It's legal for me to look at porn but if i do it at work you can rest assured I'll be fired.

I don't see why this whole on the spot testing stuff matters.

So if someone's acting fine and doing their job fine they should be fired from what this test says?

How about if someone acts lazy and doesn't get their job done they should be fired? Stoned or not?

Yes, and Yes!

"Liberalism is a way of thinking about politics and government. Liberalism sees the personal freedom and equality as one of the highest goods."

Don't call yourself a liberal anymore if you don't care about personal freedoms. Your view towards the Drug War makes you sound like a Palin.

Ummmmm...I have NEVER called myself a liberal, nor do you have any clue as to my opinions on the Drug War, so lighten up, Francis.

Because with current blood testing methods, marijuana can remain in your blood stream for over a month. Meanwhile, the affects of the drug may have long ago worn off.

More individual freedom is always more beneficial to society than the police/nanny state.

Yep we need more Heroin from Afganistan, Meth from the local cookers, etc.
MOre drug deformed babies.
More people driving 90 on our city streets with no insurance, etc.

Society is all about balance.

I am for most personal freedoms that to not negatively impact others.

You are for the personal freedom of having an abortion?

Making something legal doesn't mean more of it.

If heroine became legal I wouldn't rush to the store and buy it.

Same as a heroine addict having no problem getting it with it being illegal.

Like I said in the OP, weed was much easier for me to get as a kid than cigs or alcohol.

Waste of time and resources

Legalize it, tax the hell out of it and leave people alone

Grow as much as you want for your own consumption.

Why are we stopping at weed? It's called weed b/c it is a weed. the idea of collecting taxes on it is just as good an idea of trying to tax lawn grass.

To actually collect taxes we need to legalise the stuff that needs a detailed process done. Like coke, meth, pcp, etc...

A few good people will die b/c of this (no more than usuall), but we should be able to remove some truly fucked people out of the gene pool.

And if you see the affects as an employer you can order a drug test, if they fail it fire them.

Can someone look stoned when they have a cold?

Easy things to get around here, your reasons make it sound like you just hate weed and for that reason want it to stay illegal. I hate it too, and I hate coffee, doesn't mean I want to strip people of their personal liberties.

simple as that.
A fact of human nature.

As an employer, I do see "effects", however these same sightings can be caused from stress, depression, lack of sleep, intoxication, etc. Hence a test needs to be developed that can tell me the level of marijuana in a person's system at that moment. One currently does not exist.

Yep the Fat Food Chain.

Actually.. Not necessarily, just look at Portugal. I'm wondering how people used to treat beer or alcohol back during the 30's. Did they abuse it more when it was legal or illegal?

I see so if you suspect someone's stoned, then tell them to go take a piss test, they fail it, you fire them, what's wrong with that?

If it's legal it's easier to regulate who gets it and who doesn't.

Simple as that. A 10 year old could easily get weed in the current system.

Never mind, Sparky. You are either too stoned or too stupid to understand what I have just taken my time to explain to you three times already. Enjoy your tokes!
