IMHO it depends on what Desantis meant by "engage in politics".
I have no clue what he meant. "Politics" is not necessarily "speech". It could mean like the 51 traitors who said Hunter's laptop was "Russian disinformation" and signed a bullshit letter to sway votes. Maybe Desantis didn't want old generals engaging in similar disinformation campaigns without punishment?
