insured and no longer worried thanks to obamacare

No one was opposed to creating high risk pools to cover preexisting conditions, it was part of the Republican healthcare plan, so what exactly does this prove?

• Establishing Universal Access Programs to guarantee access to affordable health care for those with pre-existing conditions. H.R. 5424 creates Universal Access Programs that fully fund and reform high-risk pools and reinsurance programs to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of pre-existing conditions or past illnesses, have access to affordable care – while lowering costs for all Americans.

I note the supposed "pre-existing condition" wasn't named, among other questionable aspects of the rather suspect "testimonial".

but obamacare doesn't take effect for a couple more years, at least
isn't it 2013 or 2014 when that's supposed to happen?

Everyone wants low cost policies with 'lower costs to all Americans'. Politicians from all camps will promise the moon.

As to the original scenario presented; it's entirely lacking specifics. I'm curious as to his preexisting condition, for one thing. He definitely doesn't spell that out.

As far as our healthcare situation as it is, it is broken. Neither Obamacare or the Republican plan will fix it.

Nobody knows what the hell Obamacare is yet. But the Washington Post offers a book on the subject, which might be somewhat accurate:

Landmark: The Inside Story of America’s New Health Care Law and What It Means for Us All

Republicans and insurers are both being deceptive; neither one was moved to do shit about the health care problem until after it became clear Obama meant to ram reforms through. Whatever the mess might be that we have now, Americans are awake to all the issues and will no longer accept the purely for-profit system.

You wanted thoughts, so here goes.

Like DiveCon pointed out, ObamaCare doesn't start until 2014. This person is covered under a state of Ohio program called "Ohio High Risk Pool" and is funded by the HHS. Yes, that's a government program but it isn't ObamaCare.
Ohio High Risk Pool

And according to this link:
http://www.ohiohighriskpool.com/global/docs/OHRP%20FAQs%20%28Web%29.pdf

You must be covered 6 months prior to the date the person applies and have a preexisting condition that was denied by two existing providers. And you must not be eligible for Federal Medicare as well as other programs. Lastly, this program only lasts until ObamaCare takes over in 2014 and what will happen to these people then is anyones guess as no one has seen the 2000+ page ObamaCare legislation (except for the special interests who wrote it).

Also, the testimonial makes it seem easy but it doesn't look like it is.

Huh? I was under the impression that when people spoke of "ObamaCare" they were referring to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act ("health reform"), a law that passed earlier this year and created Ohio's new high risk pool (you know, the "ObamaCare legislation you referenced in your post). Are you telling me that people are only referring to specific titles of the law and not the whole thing when they speak of ObamaCare?

If so, which ones?

Well, no one except anyone with an internet connection and a modicum of curiosity.
