You're mixing apples and oranges. As for it being an "exercise in futility," I made the same point. As for the investigations, he impeded them by abusing his power. He's guilty. As for your claim that impeachment would make him popular, that's ridiculous. The Republicans would plummet, but there would be no upswing for him. That's a baseless claim. People are not as stupid about him as you imagine, they just don't want to deal with it.
