I wonder how many young people know how much opting out is going to cost them ?

If you wanted to be out on your own, would you want to rely on your parents, especially if you had had a falling out ?

Then, in those rare cases, if you were too poor to get health insurance, you would be subsidized by the government.

There is pretty much no situation where a 20 year-old wouldn't be able to get health insurance under the new law.

lol, subsidized by the government? they now have a magic money tree

Yeah...called QE 3...(Printing press)

Dont tell Zxereus that the Heritage Foundation thought up this idea and supported it for a decade. Let him believe what his conservadaddies told him to believe

Ezra Klein was just saying on tv that he personally asked the Heritage Foundation when was the very first time they came out against the mandate...

...spring of 2008.

Actually most of the youth will save a bundle by opting out. They don't need the care for the most part, so they pay a small TAX and net out several thousands ahead. Pretty straight forward really.

What your left with are those who use more of the system than they pay in. Costs of coverage goes up and more opt out due to costs which now exceed their ability to pay and actual use.

Michigan has some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country due to lack of medical coverage caps. That is basically what Obamacare has done. This ends poorly.

yeah I bet...Ezra has been known to lie

Interesting that you're supposedly all concerned about how much something is going to cost our youth after you put them into the greatest amount of debt man has ever known. Your foot is still stuck to the floor on the debt pedal.

I really think it's awesome that Democrats keep pointing out how hypocritical the Republicans, and particularly the Heritage Foundation, have been on the mandate issue. But aren't you at least a little embarrassed that your Democrats chose to pass Republican legislation instead of something useful? I mean WTF???

what? who forced them into debt?

The only thing young people should opt-out of is their murkin shitizenshit.
Just like our ancestors-------time to move on and let the place rot in chaos.

Most of us on this board are gray now. You young people listen up. Turn off the fucking TV and pick a language or three and learn it-them to perfection. Then roll on.
It's over.
The military will make you more ignorant than you already are(and maybe get you dead) and the only real security at this time seems to be in healthcare and law enforcement.......and Walmart.

Your genetic toughness, which came from ancestors who had the balls to say " Fuck This Shit" and move on, will allow you to compete anywhere on earth.
The only thing stopping you is the constant "entertainment" (brainwashing and waving flags) and the lack of being bi-multilingual.

Let's say you are 20 or so, and no longer living at home. Let's say you are working for minimun wage, or whatever and you are not covered by health insurance.

In 2014 unless you pay up for some healthcare, you will be charged $95.00 per adult or 1% of your income.

By 2016, you will be charged $695.00 per adult and up to $2085.00 per household or 2.5% of your income whichever is greater.

This is what Obama and American liberals have done to you. How's that for living in what we thought was freedom ?

The money is not the issue. Both of those "fees" are far less than even the most modest coverage. Its the principle.

What about the principle of not having others pay for your care?
How does that work?? So the bill provides subsidies right??

Young people who take care of themselves have no need for insurance.

So when they get hit by a truck, fall off a cliff, or get skin cancer, they can mooch off the rest of us?

Or do you feel we should just let them die?

I assume you are speaking of the massive (to date 6 trillion) of new debt added by OBAMALAMA?

At the federal minimum wage, the person in your example would get Medicaid and thus not be subject to the mandate.

So if someone doesn't get a policy but just pays the fee.....what happens when they roll into the hospital without insurance????

If liberals wanted everyone to have insurance then it would be easy to just remove $10-$25 from everyone's paycheck to give them a basic insurance package if they don't have one already to opt out of the program.
