I"ve had a lot of critters run after chest hits with .45

ball, swc's, lrn cast bullets, 230 gr swc's. I'm not impressed with it at all, other than the 165 gr plus P Corbon jhp. 1150 fps from a 4" barrel, real expansion in flesh and 450+ ft lbs, it hits a pretty good lick, yet is easily controlable in a lw, compact CCW pistol. I've seen many failures of 9mm and 38 special to expand in critters, too. If it's not over 1200 fps at impact, you probably wont see expansion from a .36 bore jhp and i greatly prefer over 1300 fps. Ditto for sub 1000 fps .45's.
