Okay, your answer is noted, although not necessarily agreed with.
What exactly would that have accomplished?
I pray the experts are working on this as we "speak" and have been since the accident happened regardless of Presidential politics.
What could the President have done that might have helped the situation itself?

I am sure the experts are working on it, but the politics still takes precedence.
Katz Fired From Oil-Spill Team Due to ‘Controversial Writings’ - BusinessWeek
Not sure what getting the experts together earlier would have accomplished, other than putting us about a month ahead in having a panel of experts working on it. If they are going to come up with the solution at all, it would be nice to have it faster.
From your link, he was "fired" from the team on or about May 18th. The explosion happened on April 20th. Less than a month before Dr. Katz was fired. Therefore, one would assume that the team had been organized sometime within the first couple of weeks of the disaster as it would take more than a day or two to determine that Dr. Katz' writings were a distraction.
Do you agree with that?
I don't see a date that the team was formed in the link, but I have to think it was no later than the first week of May or so? Which brings it to no later than 2.5 weeks after the explosion and more than likely it was formed earlier... at least I would think so.
