Context: Had a bad cold and my nose was blocked. I've never slept with a blocked nose in my life. The moment you fall asleep your jaw muscles relax causing your mouth to automatically shut and since my nose was blocked it jolted me awake.

I can breathe through my mouth just fine when I'm awake, since I can voluntarily use my jaw muscles to keep my mouth open and prevent it from closing. Honestly the feeling of being so tired but it being literally impossible to sleep scares me a lot, I'm so paranoid around people with colds that my average time between getting colds is years. I still wear a mask everywhere I can and constantly sanitize my hands after touching anything.

I have Zopiclone to help me sleep but I didn't want to take the sleeping pills since I knew that as soon as I fell asleep my jaw muscles would relax causing my mouth to automatically close shut and the sleeping pills might've stop me from waking up when I can't breathe.I have this fear at the back of my mind that one day I'll get some disease that will cause my nose to be blocked longer than five days, maybe even weeks or months, and I'll end up dying from a lack of sleep as I haven't slept at all for weeks/months. I've had actual nightmares about that scenario several times.

Remove your pillow and your mouth will stay open.

I once was awake and working on a disaster recovery test for 3 days.

It damn near killed me! Took me 2 weeks to fully recover. I swore I would never do that to myself again!

You are sleeping just in short stints. It is bad for your health and dangerous if you drive or use dangerous equipment. Not just dozing off but the mind starts playing tricks on you even hallucinating due to lack of deep sleep. I have experienced it myself. If I am not mistaken 36 hours without sleep is the limit one can endure with out problems

Meth is a helluva drug.

without sleep...

I am a proper monster LOL....:omg::laugh:

If I don't sleep I can't go through life in a normal way!

I can't!

I have insomnia.....some of the things I do to help with it..........acupuncture, melatonin, cbd oil, passion flower, and 800 mg+CBN live rosin syrup, and when really desperate oxycodone or zolpidem.

You need to be very careful with oxycodone or zolpidem......I will not take oxycodone for more than 2 nights in a row and the same with zolpidem....I also cut zolpidem into quarters and only take 1 quarter at bedtime.

The 800 mg+CBN live rosin syrup is very strong and hard to find....take only 1 tsp.

Some people can find relief with herbs alone.....also...very important.....exercise...if I get enough exercise I usually can sleep with only the melatonin..

you have a mental problem with this you "cant breath through your mouth" bullshit when you sleep....whoever filled your head with this nonsense is just as foolish as you are....

Sleep deprivation is harmful. It was, once a long time ago, used to control trainees in basic who did not get it.

By the third time in a week sleep was disrupted for the training platoon, the members squared the young man away.

I recently went many days without sleep at night, I just recovered from COVID. If the nose feels blocked take Mucinex, allergy meds, sudafed.
