I don't really get most rap.

FWIW, I didn't get MOTOWN, either, so when it comes to understanding what's good or why people go gaga over new sounds, I'm fairly clueless.

However I WAS listening to Howling Wolf while other people were listening to MOTOWN.

Basically I think that I'm the kind of music listener who recognizes what's good about ten years after everyone else has moved on to the next big thing.

Although I definitely DID get Dylan the fist time I heard him.

As to Joplin?

She was a Goddess of my generation.
