Huckabee's tax plan appeals, but is it fair?

My understanding is that it would only exempt things going directly into the production of goods. Buying a part for your widget wouldn't be taxable. Buying a phone for the office would.

Of course, businesses pass all taxes along so in any system the tax is going to be taken out of the hide of the consumer, but there's no way around that.
