How Fox News is Killing the Republican Party

No network can harm thinking people.

That's the point. Fox viewers are very low on intelligence and let fox do all the "hard" work for them, so all they do is sit on their lazy asses and obey every piece of propaganda that is told to them.

So based on your assessment of the right's viewing habits, the left is far superior in the intelligence aspect because they get their unbiased propaganda free news from__________?

Oddly enough it always makes me giggle a bit how much the left seems to watch Foxnews. Maybe it is just my perception because the left seems to know so much detail about that network, more than one might expect considering the criticism they offer about it.

Is there any chance some of Foxnews information burns a bit those who like their news from one perspective only? Just a thought. ;)

How about those alphabet channels? Any propaganda being offered to the lazy ass lefties we know are out there?

the same goes all of you, YOU people DON'T KNOW who on this board watches fox, so just because you ACCUSE them of it doesn't make it TRUE..Now go back to watching PmsNbc

I never "accused" anyone of watching Fox News (other than myself. I've established that I ocassionally watch it) so calm down.

NY Carbineer: I was literally laughing out loud. a red-faced Karl Rove stuttering and spluttering all over the place and Kelly running through the halls - camera crew in tow - trying to confront their "decision desk" about how Obama could have possibly won.

You couldn't script a comedy any better than that.

And while I can laugh at them - I just feel sorry for all those people who followed them down that garden path only to be so bitterly disappointed and devastated to find out they'd been lied to.

REALLY? your idiot post to bripat9643
Prime example - Fox has deluded you into thinking that there are a lot of people in America who are actually interested in Benghazi conspiracy theories.

and who gives a shit who you were laughing at...we are laughing at you two obsessing over a t.v station right now

You don't SEEM to be laughing. You SEEM to be close to hysteria.
But you are 100% correct. I did accuse that poster of watching fox news. My statement that I hadn't accused anyone was 100% wrong. I apologize for my mistake.

NY Carbineer: It did bother me to see George Will get caught up in the lies. I really used to like him. I guess he should stick to writing misty, nostalgic books about the lost innocence of the golden age of baseball. As a political prognosticator he blows.

I don't like liars and you are the one who is hysterical over a damn news station..
carry on little person

The time has come for a "fairness doctrine" overseen by some socialist bureaucrat that monitors format...

For the common good !!!!!!!!

The unintentional damage that Foxnews did to Romney WAS the common good.

It's possible that it was good for Fox too. They seem to thrive as the angry opposition. Their revenue and ad sales have increased above and beyond what they were when they were just the loyal lapdog of the Bush administration.

She's arguing with you because she's practicing for her next marriage.

Abortion

it's actually 77% by this much more recent poll- who think abortion should be available

The poll you list states 42%

Don't let the facts interfere with your agenda; hey, you're a leftist, integrity isn't for you. "Under stricter limits" was defined by the poll as "rape, incest, or life of mother," just as I had stated.

Which means they favor making abortion available - 77% (42% generally available, 35% available under stricter limits) 42 plus 35 = 77% who feel abortion should be available.
Just like I said.

Does Fox new's reliance on Rassmussen (rated 60th in accuracy among the 90 polling firms that conducted at least one poll in the last three weeks of the election) hurt.

Scotty certainly tells the far right what they want to hear, and provides the far right media to pin it's agenda with a psuedopublic opinion poll, but does trying to create a movement or opinion by pretending that it's already out there help or hurt?

Those who would be inclined to actually do the work to sway public opinion might not make the effort if they believe the public opinion is already there.

Utterly false.

I stated at the outset that Americans OPPOSE abortion on demand, that other than in rape, incest, and life of mother, the majority of Americans oppose abortion.

42 plus 35 = 77% who feel abortion should be available.
Just like I said.

42% want it available, 35% would restrict it to rape, incest, and life of mother.

Thanks for playing, I can always count on the left for extreme dishonesty.

No you RESPONDED to my post that 70% of Americans favor the availability of abortion by saying I was wrong and that a lesser percentage approved of "abortion on demand"
My orginal post said nothing about "on demand" and I even pointed out that disctinction.

And you claim I'm dishonest??????

Grow up kid, no one's buying your deflection.

The Conservative Entertainment Complex will destroy the Republican Party unless they renounce it.

Rush, Fox, Beck, etc. lie too much to appeal to all Americans.

I have absolutely no problem with anyone listening to all types of different viewpoints. In fact, I don't care if they want to cocoon themselves into an echo chamber like Fox News where they will only hear the one side of an issue that they already agree with.

But sole reliance on a totally biased source of information will wind up hurting you in the end as you are not well informed about what is really going on in the world. That severly limits your ability to influence what is going on the world.

Are there some of those same forces that might destroy the Democrat Party?

Politics today is the problem. It is far too high strung, angry and nasty imo. Both sides feed on each other.

I know this isn't directed at me, but I personally think this is also a warning to wise Democrats. Don't let MSNBC fool you into thinking everyone leans far to left either. In this disinformation age, none of us can afford to sequester ourselves into the all-too-available glut of hyper-partisan information sources even if we do find comfort in their like-minded bias.

I agree. If the nasty and imo unpleasant directions politics has gone was simply due to one network and one party the fix would be simple. Most people who are not partisan hacks and FoxNews haters with a laughable obsession would use their brain and actually realize the complexities at hand.

I know so many posters reacted to my OP as if I was advocating "silencing" Fox News. Even I after I demonstrated that I watch it once or twice a week. I don't think ANY voices need to be silenced. I think sole reliance on any one source of information - especially a hyper-partisan source - is foolish. And that is why so many Republicans are being ill-served by Fox News.

I have no idea what other people watch. Are you certain that many Rs just watch a steady diet of FoxNews?

Honestly, thinking people should be able to not be that "endangered" by any network. It is those who are truly partisan or not thinking on either side who are at risk for being...well a partisan hack.

The problem is not what people watch. It is that people do not think critically.

This bias view started with Fox News but it has spread slowly to the other networks in order to keep up with the ratings. I think people just have to watch biased news sources on all sides and figure out the "truth".... ahhhhh forget that just watch the colbert report

It's telling to me because so many of the far right who I come into contact with have never heard of events and issues that Fox avoids because they make the GOP look bad.
A couple of for instances:
1) Most of the rabid right I talked to never knew that John McCain's wife stole drugs from a former employer. In fact, most didn't even know she had a drug problem.
2) Most on the far right had never heard about the GOP filibustering an equal pay for women initiative in the senate.
Yes, are plenty on the far right who refuse to watch anything except Fox news. So they aren't getting anything close to an accurate view of what is actually going on in the world.
