How Fox News is Killing the Republican Party

I haven't seen that one much. But Huckabee is a former Baptist minister and I think his views on abortion are shared by about 30 % of the American people. That's fine - but I can see how such a preoccupation on that issue and pretty much demanding that GOP candidates toe the company line on that single issue (especially when they demand such an unpopular opinion) is also counter-productive to the GOP.

But if that's a "core value" that cannot be compromised on, maybe he should spend time trying to win people over to his point of view. Because right now, they're losing support on their abortion position.

So your claim is that 70% if Americans support abortion on demand?

Every time either party loses an election the other side starts to crow about "the death of the (fill in the blank)_____ party" .....yawn

70% of Americans support abortion (the "on-demand" part - does that mean without ANY restrictions whatsoever?)

It's three years newer than your poll

No network can harm thinking people.

That's the point. Fox viewers are very low on intelligence and let fox do all the "hard" work for them, so all they do is sit on their lazy asses and obey every piece of propaganda that is told to them.

Well yeah - waaaay too many of them do just that. That's the point. But I wouldn't say everyone who ever watches Fox News is that way - because I am not that way and I watch it ocassionally.

When you only listen to one side of the issues, you don't truly understand the issues. When you don't truly understand the issues - or half of the American population - you have a hard time winning elections.

.....Beside the fact they allow CRAZY PEOPLE on their network!!!!

"On Thursday, tea party-backed radio host Michael Graham told Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly that President Barack Obama scared voters by claiming that women would be “forced into rape camps” under the Republican presidential nominee."

That point I have to agree with. Watching poilitics in the U.S. is like watching a VU meter. The meter twitches back and forth so I typically don't put too much stock in one election.

What I think might be of some concern to Republicans now is that all indicators pointed to the meter twitiching their way this time. It didn't. And when you look at the demographics it appears that groups that typically lean democratic are growing while groups that typically support Republicans are shrinking.

They lost an election that they really should have won. Fox News - and an over reliance on it as a primary news source - is a big reason why. They've slipped out of touch with Americans and they don't seem to understand how or why.

And they aren't going to get any closer to learning the answers by watching Fox News - they are just going to get more deeply entrenched in conspiracy theories (well OK at least Beck finally got the ax - too bad. I really miss his "I love America" crying jags), ginned up Rassmussen polls, and other forms of self-delusion.

I agree that by artificially proping up early Tea Party rallies with 'round-the-clock coverage and lying about crowd sizes at those rallies, Fox News was a major player in creating a monster that the Republican Party hasn't figured out how to deal with. And it is certaintly hurting them.

Yeah, they sat back at chuckled at how they kept the birth certificate meme rolling - but they aren't laughing now. Now the Tea Party is shoving candidates down their throat that are way too extreme to win on anything other than a very localized stage.

Your claim was proven false per the prior post, yet you persist. The majority of Americans OPPOSE abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or the health of the mother/baby.

Abortion

it's actually 77% by this much more recent poll- who think abortion should be available

omg, back to the killing of ones children

sick society...is it any wonder Obama won, he is the Abortion President

I don't. But then again, I used to be a Republican. Been to more Lincoln Day dinners than I care to count.

I wish they would start offering plausible options again. Healthy competition is a good thing. Keep everyone on their toes. I just wish they'd return to sanity. Fox News is helping to keep them complacent in extremism. And giving them the false impression that everyone except free-loaders and drug dealers are just as extreme as they are.

The time has come for a "fairness doctrine" overseen by some socialist bureaucrat that monitors format...

For the common good !!!!!!!!

I personally oppose abortion - but the majority of people in America don't. Republicans and abortion opponents (myself included in the later category anyway) need to be doing a better job of pursuading people against it.

I personally don't think bombing clinics or heckling women who are already having what is probably the worst day of their life is the way to do it. Screaming "MURDERER" in someone's face is not likely to win them over.

Like it or not - lots of women view access to abortion as their right and efforts by Republicans to limit that access as government intrusion into their womb.
