How did american soldiers acquire drugs during the Vietnam war?

Drug use was prevalent in civilian life and heroin use was at it's peak during the 60's. The draft brought in inner city kids who were drug users before they even saw a uniform. LBJ's war deteriorated from lack of leadership from the president on down. Democrats and the media supported the war and then un-supported it and the Troops were caught in the middle.

I always thought heroine, amphetamine and cocaine were transported from the US, and marijuana was local. Or not?
