How About We Read All Of 'Em????

Why should I?

And I'm not a liberal, never have been never will be just like I will never be a partisan republican hack.

And this isn't about geopolitics it's about people reading books outside of the public schools which BTW anyone can do

It's not 'why should I'.....it's that you can't.

You proved my point.

You've served the role you were born to serve.....you can go now.

Let local school boards decide. They know their own better than others. It's not in the nations interest to have a national reading list. That should NOT influence LOCAL decisions.

Hi PC, how you been, was looking if you posted recently and saw this thread. I love the word 'woke' like so many slogans words it is just a label, a word to keep the person from thinking. The republicans and so called conservatives today are like trained parrots: Email Laptop Hunter Bengasi woke etc etc. No need to think is there. MAGA was a fascinating one too, as all authoritarians use abbreviations as tools to fool. Take care, if you want a challenge read book below but I doubt you could or would. ;) Sorry two books, both deep reads.

So you have no problem with the President you voted for and his family being on China's payroll????

You'd feel differently if you were an American.

Of course it is the Right that has made CRT a major issue. Why is that?

Can you really be this stupid???

Or, simply more Democrat boot-licking.

1. Critical Race Theory, in the definition proposed in the 1993 book Words That Wound, co-authored by Mari Matsuda, Charles Lawrence III, Richard Delgado, and Kimberlè Crenshaw:

"Critical race theory recognizes that racism is endemic to American life. Rather than seeing racism as aberrational, CRT scholars see it as the norm.

Critical race theory expresses skepticism toward dominant legal claims of neutrality, objectivity, color blindness, and meritocracy.

More important, as critical race theorists we adopt a stance that presumes that racism has contributed to all contemporary manifestations of group advantage and disadvantage along racial lines, including differences in income, imprisonment, health, housing, education, political representation, and military service. Our history calls for this presumption….whites must simply defer to the voices of their non-white peers."

2. The simplest rebuttal is this statement of America’s Creed, which is the opposite of CRT.

…the creed embodies “the political principles of liberty, equality, democracy, individualism, human rights, the rule of law, and private property.” Samuel P. Huntington’s Who Are We? The Challenges to America’s National Identity, p.46

3. A detailed and step-wise dismembering of the aberrant anti-humanity Critical Race Theory, by James A. Lindsay, begins here:

“ Critical Race Theory believes racism is present in every aspect of life, every relationship, and every interaction.

…the usual way society does business, the common, everyday experience of most people of color in this country,”

… what they mean by “racism” isn’t even what most people think racism means. It is not prejudice based upon race or believing some races to be superior or inferior to others that they mean by “racism.” It is, instead, the “system” of everything that happens in the social world and beyond that results in any disparity that works in the favor of “racially privileged” groups (on average) or any “racially oppressed” person claiming they experience racial oppression.

… people who take up Critical Race Theory to look for racism in everything until they find it.

In the workplace that adopts Critical Race Theory, this means that it’s only a matter of time until someone with that worldview finds out how your entire company and its culture is “racist.” At that point, they will cause a meltdown that forces everyone to take sides and demand a reorganization of the entire (now divided) office culture and management.

In schools, it will mean teaching our children to think this way and always be looking for racism in every situation and interaction. In our personal relationships, it means that friends and even family members—especially our kids who have already been educated with Critical Race Theory ideas that have been incorporated in our schools—will eventually call each other out and reject one another, because tolerating racism is also considered a form of racism t

hat would have to be discovered and stopped.”

Thank you for defining CRT. Now please provide a list of K-12 schools that teach it. I know for a fact it is not and never have been taught in VA schools.

You are pedantic scum, but valuable in giving me the opening to destory your party and your lies.

Others who may not know the truth will be disabused of your lies and attempts to obfuscate.

"Indiana school admin explains how schools teach CRT without using that term: 'We're lying'

'When we tell you Critical Race Theory isn't taught in our schools we're lying'

"When we tell you that our schools aren’t teaching Critical Race Theory, that it’s nowhere in our standards, that’s misdirection," Indianapolis district science coordinator, instructional coach, and administrator Tony Kinnett posted on Twitter Thursday.

"We tell our teachers to treat our students differently based on color. We tell our students every problem is a result of ‘white men’ and that everything Western Civilization built is racist. Capitalism is a tool of white supremacy. Those are straight out of Kimberle Crenshaw’s main points verbatim in ‘Critical Race Theory: The Key Writings that Formed the Movement.’"

. “Racial Literacy Curriculum,” elementary schools in Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, California, Rhode Island, Missouri, and Illinois have all adopted the mind-blowing, politically-charged brainwash that they tout as education. Topics for Kindergarten to Grade 8 include: implicit bias, white privilege, intersectionality, LGBTQ issues, racism as a “primary institution of the US,” and other such leftist agenda talking points.” EXCLUSIVE: New Leftist ‘Racial Literacy Curriculum’ Brainwashing Elementary School Children

. The Pollyana Curriculum…nationwide

“Beginning in Grade 3, the Pollyanna "Racial Literacy Curriculum" asks students to become activists in order to achieve leftist goals. The 3rd Grade chapter is entitled "Stories of Activism – How One Voice Can Change a Community." The expected result is for students to understand "how we can be agents of communal, social, political, and environmental change."
…Pollyanna takes leftist activism to new heights, fabricating an image of a racist America that children are taught to rebel against.

By Grade 8,after nine years of acute indoctrination, the children are ready to fight on behalf of leftists in America. "tudents will set commitments for rectifying current social ills, such as learning and planning how to carry out anti-racist activism and/or social advocacy in their communities and/or to improve their everyday lives." The 8th Grade chapter is entitled "Racism as a Primary 'Institution' of the U.S. – How We May Combat Systemic Inequality." "Pitt introduces initiative for 'justice teaching' in public schools
The new PittEd Justice Collective pushes “justice teaching” and anti-racist initiatives in schools at all levels.

  • One of the efforts sponsored by the collective aims to "create and sustain a pipeline of justice-minded activists."

Faculty at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education recently put together a three-year working group called the PittEd Justice Collective. This group was created on June 1 in response to “the loss of Black lives through police brutality and other forms of institutional injustice" with a stated purpose to “situate equity and justice across all levels of our school's operations, culture, climate, and academic engagements.”

The group aims to collaborate with "school districts on justice teaching, with an explicit focus on pedagogies, practices, and assessments" and establish a "Youth-for-Justice Dean’s Advisory Committee."

. “Third graders reportedly made to ‘deconstruct’ their identities, rank themselves according to power and privilege An elementary school in Cupertino, California was reportedly caught brainwashing its third-grade students with the illiberal, racist doctrines of critical race theory.

Whistleblower documents provided to filmmaker, writer, and researcher Christopher Rufo of the Discovery Institute show that the children were forced to “deconstruct their racial and sexual identities” and “rank themselves according to their ‘power and privilege. “The teacher explained that the students live in a ‘dominant culture’ of ‘white, middle class, cisgender, educated, able-bodied, Christian, English-speaker,’ who, according to the lesson, ‘created and maintained’ this culture in order ‘to hold power and stay in power.' ”The teacher basically taught the children that normal, everyday white people — particularly the ones who are Christian — are bad.'” Third graders reportedly made to ‘deconstruct’ their identities, rank themselves according to power and privilege

“…the Wake County Public School System, which serves the greater Raleigh, North Carolina area, held an equity-themed teachers’ conference with sessions on “whiteness,” “microaggressions,” “racial mapping,” and “disrupting texts,” encouraging educators to form “equity teams” in schools and push the new party line: “antiracism.” …began with a “land acknowledgement,” a ritual recognition suggesting that white North Carolinians are colonizers on stolen Native American land….claimed that “(white) cultural values” include “denial,” “fear,” “blame,” “control,” “punishment,” “scarcity,” and “one-dimensional thinking.”

Parents, according to the teachers, should be considered an impediment to social justice. When one teacher asked, “How do you deal with parent pushback?” the answer was clear: ignore parental concerns and push the ideology of antiracism directly to students.” Critical Race Theory in Wake County, NC Schools | City Journal

29. "Florida parents outraged by school's 'White advantage' statement

Florida parents say the board's pledge promotes racism rather than dismantling it

In a mission statement posted to the board’s website, it vowed to eliminate racism and systems of inequity, but Florida parents have argued the statement is at odds with their intended goal.

"Your statement is dividing us, and it incites racism," mother of two, Jessica Martinez, told board members Wednesday, according to The Palm Beach Post.

The statement says the board is committed to "dismantling structures rooted in white advantage and transforming our system by hearing and elevating under-represented voices, sharing power, recognizing and eliminating bias, and redistributing resources to provide equitable outcomes."

"Equity, as you are calling it, is a political view and it is racist," Amanda Silvestri told the board. "None of this despicable, political, racist nonsense should be pushed on innocent children and has absolutely no business being taught in schools," she added."

Throughout much of 2021, conservatives, in both classrooms and in the halls of state legislatures, have been fighting back against the pervasive influence of critical race theory in public schools.

Laws banning the instruction of CRT tenets in public schools have passed in more than 20 states, and there is reason t0 hope that the tide is beginning to turn in the fight for the country’s history and principles.

36. Union-Linked Coalition Scripts ‘Messaging’ To Counter Parental Pushback Against Critical Race Theory

Attacks on parents and groups opposing CRT in K-12 follow closely the messaging scripts and tactics prepared by the 300-group Future of Learning coalition CRT Messaging Guide. And deep in the mix was the largest teachers union in the nation, the National Education Association.

…mainstream media and K-12 school and teachers union officials have been in a frenzy asserting that Critical Race Theory (CRT) does not really exist outside of legal and higher ed academia, that CRT is not taught in K-12, that parents protesting against CRT are billionaire-backed astroturf, and that opponents can’t even define what CRT is.

… CRT apparently is sufficiently defined and sufficiently taught in K-12 that NEA is coming to its rescue and promotion. The claims that CRT is not a thing in K-12 were a fraud.”

38. “America's largest teachers' union backs teaching critical race theory to children, says it will fight those who oppose move, and calls for October rally to commemorate George Floyd's birthday

The National Educator's Association recently announced it backs the teaching of critical race theory in schools

The country's largest teacher's union approved a resolution to promote critical race theory and assemble a team to teach it to union members

It also wants to assemble a staff to take on those who challenge its plans to promote CRT

In addition to its plans, the NEA will launch a 'national day of action' on October 14 – George Floyd's birthday – to have a dialogue on systemic racism”

The largest teacher’s union proclaimed what it hates, and will work to indoctrinate children to hate:

“The NEA will, with guidance on implementation from the NEA president and chairs of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Caucuses:

A. Share and publicize, through existing channels, information already available on critical race theory (CRT) -- what it is and what it is not; have a team of staffers for members who want to learn more and fight back against anti-CRT rhetoric; and share information with other NEA members as well as their community members.

B. Provide an already-created, in-depth, study that critiques empire, white supremacy, anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, racism, patriarchy, cisheteropatriarchy, capitalism, ableism, anthropocentrism, and other forms of power and oppression at the intersections of our society, and that we oppose attempts to ban critical race theory and/or The 1619 Project.”

C. Publicly (through existing media) convey its support for the accurate and honest teaching of social studies topics, including truthful and age-appropriate accountings of unpleasant aspects of American history, such as slavery, and the oppression and discrimination of Indigenous, Black, Brown, and other peoples of color, as well as the continued impact this history has on our current society. The Association will further convey that in teaching these topics, it is reasonable and appropriate for curriculum to be informed by academic frameworks for understanding and interpreting the impact of the past on current society, including critical race theory.

D. Join with Black Lives Matter at School and the Zinn Education Project to call for a rally this year on October 14—George Floyd’s birthday—as a national day of action to teach lessons about structural racism and oppression.” Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly | NEA

I simply could not enjoy that snore fest. Now, 1984 and Animal Farm. Those are fantastic books. Atlas Shrugged, A brave New World, Fahrenheit 451 and Harrison Bergeron also some of my favorite books.

Oddly, I hate the ending of all of them yet they are some of the best books I have ever read.

This.

This is what has been done for decades and is actually necessary for schools to do. It is not as though they have the ability to teach every important book ever written.
