No one is showing up to ban guns.

What people are showing up for is to get proper safety laws for guns. Laws that help to prevent crazy people from getting a gun to kill people.

People can't even go to a yoga class or to work or to their place of worship without worrying that they. will be mowed down by a crazy person with a gun.

Just because people want proper safety laws for guns doesn't mean people want to ban them.

and what sane (?) laws would prevent that?

First thing that could be done is to close the gun show loophole to make sure that all gun sales in all states are subject to a background check. Including all sales on the internet.

Second thing that could be done is to reverse the trump EO that makes it easier for those with mental problems to get guns.

Third thing could be to not allow a teenager or anyone below 21 to be able to buy a semi automatic weapon.

Fourth legislation making it easier to remove weapons from people who have proven to be mentally unstable and a danger to themselves or other people.

Fifth make bump stocks illegal.

Sixth limit capacity of bullets a gun can hold.

I have not heard gun control being discussed by anyone. It's a political third rail, still. At least it is up here.
So no, I don't think it will be a factor. Maybe in Florida, it's different.

The Democrat candidate for governor for one, whose name escapes me at the moment, stated in a interview that if she were to get legislation passed, gun owners would just have to "turn in their guns".
