Herbert Hoover actually did create some some spending increases, in response to the on-set of the Great Depression. By 1932, however: It was fairly late in happening.

Herbert Hoover Historical Federal Budget. Compare, reviews & ratings.

Like the Current Republican leadership intends, federal spenidng in 1930 and 1931 was fairly flat. In 1932 it finally went up. Unemployment was at 25% and more, with non-farm unemployment put as high as 37% and rising.

So there is the "spending" record of the Republican Party even before it was completely insane. 37% is now the level regarding acceptable, by board posters and GOP.

The Obama Administration levels at 9% and 15% are regarded unacceptable.

The Republicans clearly want spending back to 1930 levels, even again. That was a bad idea, even then. Smoot-Hawley was going to save them all!

"Crow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(In fact, even Prohibition was going to save them all!)

And....Obama would be FDR who was elected in 1932 with a promise of ending the recession and turned it into a disaster in two terms? He wasn't enough of a gentleman to restrict himself to two terms like every other president and they had to prop him up for his 4th term. While FDR was fiddling with the economy he forgot about National Defense.

The Party of Herbert Hoover has gone the "Cut Spending" route before, and with the outcome shown. FDR got the massive public works started, and brought down the unemployment rate to 14% in 1937. Then he went on the Herbert Hoover, balanced budget mantra, and unemployment went to 19% even thought GDP was increasing.

Timeline of the Great Depression

So like Obama, FDR had ended the downturn, and had turned around the economy and unemployment rate deterioration.

The Party of Herbert Hoover-Boehner-Cantor-McConnell--Romney-Bachman-McCain-Pawlenty-Paul-Paul-et. al., is still out to destroy all spending in any owners stores forever, even now.

"No more spending in any stores Today! No more spending in any stores Tomorra! No more spending in any stores forever!"

Anyone sees that the Republicans are not a Socialist kind of economics-oriented party at all, bur are a hoarding and house-address forgetting kind of party instead! Whitehall poster even seems to corroborate their actual support for the Nazis. FDR actually got the WWII contagion halted, and with the help of England and the USSR. The Republicans did despise England and the USSR, even then.

"Cfrow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(Many totem and torchlight parades make better sense to many white eyes, then spending, like is on their permanent record!)
