While running for President, Roosevelt put his finger on Hoover's mistake.....swore the would do otherwise.....then reneged and did even more than Hoover, causing the Depression.

1. The hagiography and idol-worship leaves out all understanding of his times...and what he actually said and did. So...here I am to save the day!

2. The basis of FDR's 1932 campaign to win the presidency from Herbert Hoover was his emphatic promise to the suffering American people, that he would balance the budget. Of course, he also promised that he would use the government to create jobs, and that they "had a right to a comfortable living."

3.The part about balancing the budget had a certain resonance as President Harding had veered sharply away from federal spending and solved as big a recession in about one year. Certainly Franklin Roosevelt knew this, as he hammered away at Hoover's spending. October 19, 1932, he nailed Hoover, observing that in recent years federal expenses had increased by $1 billion "and that I may add, is the most reckless and extravagant past that I have been able to discover in the statistical record of any peacetime Government anywhere, any time." http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=88399

a. Roosevelt went further! The cause: "It arises from one cause only and that is the unbalanced budget at he continued failure of this administration to take effective steps to balance it! If that budget had been fully and honestly balanced in 1930, some of the 1931 troubles would have been avoided. Even if it had been balanced in 1931, much of the extreme dip in 1932 would have been obviated. Every financial man in the country knows why this is true." http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=88399

b. And this: "... carrying out the plain precept of our Party, which is to reduce the cost of current Federal Government operations by 25 percent." Ibid.
. Roosevelt expanded the federal government and ran up deficits much greater than those of Hoover

4. Now the Biden Democrats, busting out inflation greater than we've seen in 40 years.

Inflation is too many dollars chasing too few goods.

Ask yourself what the real Democrat agenda is.

"The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.".Lenin

Democrats learned quite a bit from their forebears.

Ask yourself what the real Democrat agenda is.
It's simple....They don't understand economics.

It's simple....They don't understand economics.

I believe they do.

There is something a lot worse than stupidity going on here.
Leon Trotsky long ago pointed out that where there is no private ownership, individuals can be bent to the will of the state”
Bethell, “The Noblest Triumph,” p.9

. “THE BOLSHEVIST REVOLUTION of October, 1917 [1], did not overthrow the Kerensky government alone, it overthrew the whole social system that was based on private property.”

Usually, I'd tend to agree....This is full-blown stupidity....They're too economically illiterate, and to narcissistic to admit it, to recognize that they're driving off the cliff.

1. An amazing job, the Democrats have done with the economy....
No...you don't really think the dunce Biden came up with any of the policies, do you????
It's Democrat policy, and we can all see the result.

2.The inflation rate in Trump's last year....1.4%

US Inflation Rate by Year: 1929-2023

The U.S. inflation rate by year is the percentage of change in prices from one year to the next. It responds to business cycle phases and interest rates.

3. The reported inflation rate is 8.3-8.6%
But you know that Democrats lie about everything......it's at least 50% higher.

Sooo......who'd you vote for?????

Marxism -> Taxation as the road to slavery.

The most hidden and insidious tax is INFLATION.

I'm not opposed to taxation.

I am opposed to excessive taxation as a disguise for paving the way to socialism.

Although based on a rejection of big government, the desire for lower taxes can be found in Judeo-Christian tradition, the tradition at the heart of the creation of the United States.

Who is to decide what is fair, and what is too much? Some religions suggest tithing, from the Old Testament, and government demands taxes.

Joseph gathered very much grain: It seems it was customary for Pharaoh to take 10% of the grain in Egypt as a tax. Essentially, Joseph doubled the taxes over the next seven years (Genesis 41:34 mentions one-fifth, that is, 20%).

That 20% figure appears again in the relationship of colonists to North America, and the English crown "....colonists were free to retain all the profits and fruits of their labor save for the crown's 20 percent share of any gold and silver discovered." "Freedom Just Around the Corner: A New American History: 1585-1828," by Walter A. McDougall, p.33

What if you find that based on Federal taxes, state taxes, local taxes, sales tax, parking fees, license fees, speed cameras, hidden taxes of all sorts......
....and the insidious tax, inflation.....

....amounted to more than half your income at least?

“House Democrats unveiled proposals on Monday to pay for a $3.5 trillion spending plan, with tax increases that could mean the wealthiest New Yorkers and Californians face rates of about 60 percent.Sep 13, 2021

under House Democrats' bill to fund $3.5trillion spending plans

It is the hallmark of the Democrats:
But he did identify what he called “tactical lessons.” He let himself look too much like “the same old tax-and-spend liberal Democrat.”
Education of a President (Published 2010)

Have we reached slavery????

Or simply extortion???

PoliticalChic, “.....then reneged and did even more than Hoover, causing the depression”?
Did you vote for Donald Trump? Both times? You apparently believed something you read or heard, without yourself thinking it through.

Hoover, (who was a very fine man), was elected in 1928. The stock market crashed in October 24, 1929. On March 4, 1933 Franklin Roosevelt was sworn into office. You don't wish to continue believing Roosevelt caused the depression? Respectfully, Supposn

No Democrat voter seems able to see the pattern:

FDR turned a recession into the Great Depressoin so as to use crisis to gain power.

Now look at the Biden Democrats.......inflation is too many dollars chasing too few goods.

So, rather than contain the morst recessive tax, INFLATION, .......

The deal breaks a deadlock on the long-sought legislation, with the bill set to generate an estimated $739 billion in revenue, spend $433 billion and reduce deficits by $300 billion.

I have no problem educating you....it is my mission here, aiding the uneducated.

FDR knew how to end Hoover's recession. He ran for office on the correct policy.

It is not necessary for you to remain ignorant your entire life.

My next post.....the proof that FDR knew what to do.
