Most people have heard of the 1937 ridiculous cult film Reefer Madness which attempts to explain that "Marihuana" is the most dangerous drug menace in history, but far fewer Americans have heard of the 1942 USDA film, Hemp For Victory, which urges Americans to grow "Marihuana" to make life-saving equipment for the US military fighting against the Axis of Evil.

Three minutes into the film, there is shown a Special Tax Stamp which clearly reads, PRODUCER OF MARIHUANA. The film explains that production of industrial hemp can replace many foreign imports for raw materials, making the US more economically independent while providing the US military with necessary equipment ranging from naval ropes to parachutes to boot laces.

The film is available online through IMDB, Youtube, GoogleVideo, or Archive.org. Since the US Federal government used the legalization and production of "Marihuana" to help win World War II, then why can't the US Federal government use the legalization of "Marihuana" to help win the War on Terror or even the War on Drugs?

Why does the American government continue to wage war on a plant that can be used to help win wars? If more Americans become aware of the US' successful WWII Hemp For Victory, then more Americans will understand that marijuana prohibition is an entirely worthless endeavor and will vote to end it.

Cannabis was likely one of the earliest plant we humans cultivated. That history has been purged from the history book since Harry J. Anslinger decided he needed a new villain to replace alcohol.

There used to be a large industrial hemp field at a now-converted military air base not far from me. The base was established in 1917. Not sure when they first began cultivating hemp for raw material.

It wasn't until the 80's that they were able to eradicate it. Sure couldn't get stoned off of it (I tried :D).

Be glad when the boomers finally die out so we can have some sanity in this policy and many others that seem to be based on phantom fears alone.

It's like people are totally ignorant of the fact that industrial hemp is a different strain and has no THC? Plants are harmless. Now go have a nice cup of foxglove tea.

Ignorance and drug use seem to go along hand in hand.

In the 70's my brother used to sneak through the fence at night and cart off about 50 pounds at a time. Dry, clean, bag it up for $10/pound. Helped get him through college LOL.
Folks still bought it knowing they couldn't get high. They called it "socializing weed".

There is only one drug so far that I support being fully legaized and that's krokodil. Give it away free.

Yeah...pretty much...?

I have to admit...when I saw "krokodil", this is what popped into my head:

It doesn't take much to overcome the last 70 years of corruption and injustice. If the voters of the United States were made aware of the Hemp For Victory film, they would be more willing to accept the fact that the US Federal government is lying when they tell us that Cannabis Sativa is a dangerous, gateway narcotic without any medical uses.

Share the film with everyone and put this issue to rest.

You know that industrial hemp is different from the marijuana used to get high don't you? If you aren't aware of that, there's really nothing for you to say. Industrial hemp has no or some strains, only trace amounts of THC.

Of course, but the US Federal government doesn't make any distinction between the two, as shown in the 1942 USDA film, Hemp For Victory. The plant has three names in the United States- Cannabis Sativa L., hemp, and "Marihuana". Because marijuana is Cannabis Sativa, one of the safest natural medicines on Earth, and hemp is Cannabis Sativa, one of the most versatile land-based natural resources on Earth, both hemp and marijuana are illegal under US Federal law. Today, nearly all of the "Marijuana" seized and destroyed by the DEA each year is wild hemp.

This is an injustice perpetrated by our elected government on both humans and nature. For this hypocritical injustice to finally end, Cannabis Sativa L., both hemp and marijuana, must be legalized again. It worked during World War II, and it will work again. American society will not suffer because of marijuana legalization. Watch Hemp For Victory and share the film with every other American voter.

The US currently spends tens of billions of tax dollars each year trying to eradicate the same plant that was used to help stop the Holocaust, and then Americans import hundreds of millions of dollars of hemp products from overseas, mostly from Communist China. Does this make sense to anyone?

What is your excuse?

The industrialist are still trying to destroy hemp, they hate competition.

The DEA insists that crack cocaine is a safer medicine than Cannabis. According to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, marijuana is a Schedule 1 "dangerous" narcotic which does not have any medical uses whatsoever. Cocaine, however, had been historically prescribed for medical reasons so it is rated as Schedule 2. Schedule 2 is for drugs which have a high rate of dependency and abuse, but can be used for medical purposes.

Because crack is simply free-base cocaine, crack is also listed as Schedule 2.

If crack is a safer medicine than marijuana, then why aren't more states pushing to legalize medicinal crack? Perhaps the DEA doesn't actually know what medicine is.

Does anyone know that the US Federal government has maintained a medical marijuana program since the mid 1970s? Although the program was discontinued in 1991, there are still Federal medical marijuana patients receiving care from the same US Federal government which arrests tens of thousands of Americans each year for marijuana possession.

Mr. Irvin Rosenfeld is the most outspoken of these Federal medical marijuana patients. His testimonies on the subject are unparalleled. And if that isn't enough, there are also US Federal government websites which tout the medical benefits of Cannabis Sativa.

Does it seem odd to Americans that the US Federal government supplies marijuana to medical patients while at the same time denying that marijuana has any medical uses?

Marijuana is still illegal. Perhaps anyone would like to try to explain why?

Zero overdoses, zero cases of lung cancer, and yet tens of thousands of arrests, year after year. Why?
