You got something against organic grub?
The prices and sanctimonious attitude of it's fans.

Prices I'll give you.

But where does this charge of sanctimony stem from? I don't see that at all.

Because RushSeanBeck has told him that only those wine and cheese Liberals eat organic food, and Liberals are sanctimonious.

You really have to pay attention to whose post you are replying to, mani.

Shoosh, dude! Shit! Try to stay on topic, ffs.

Anybody had free-range beef?

Farmers' markets usually prove to be an exercise in modern-day highway robbery.
Maybe in Canada, but not here. Much cheaper than the stores.

Previous IP address checks have revealed that I live in (and post from) the UK. But let's not let that obstruct your on-going naivity re. the modern-day farmers' market. I can just picture what you've got in your shopping list...

Olives from Staten Island... pancetta from Brooklyn.. and (lest we forget) those divine tomatoes which grow only on the gentle, south-facing slopes of Capitol Hill.

The modern incarnation of a farmers' market is a rip-off.

Around here it really isn't. If it is where you live you have my sincerest condolences.

I go to the ones that sell local produce. And I don't like olives or pancetta.

So you're relieved of your money by local charlatans. Gotcha.

How did we get from talking about Cali Girl's porn novel on p.1 to applespeak on p.4?

JK..I'm SURE it's not porn, lol!

We're not. Seriously, I don't know where you are - but their prices are better than the stores, every FM I've been to.

he's a brit.

brits are to food as bodey is to honesty

Anybody had Pink Lady apples? Those are amazing. Anyway - the difference in taste between organic and non is unbelievable. Taste, texture, size; everything. The non are bigger, less flavorful, and not as crisp.

Last year I discovered a farmer's market that sold apples that you can't get in the stores down here, York, Pippin, etc. My oh my, I was in heaven. It's been a long time since I've had anything better than a McIntosh.

:)

And yes, Swaggert, I don't care how much I get charged for good apples.

Good point. But I don't really know much about Big Fitz apart from the fact that he manages to post while being torso deep inside CG's asshole.

OK, going with that, what kind of produce can you expect to pick-up at your local farmers' market that you can't afford to buy in the supermarkets?

PS. I can understand some of you may think that I'm just being a a facetious arsehole - which, to a certain extent I am - but my experience of UK farmers' markets are that they're a place to be seen rather than an opportunity to shop in an environment that's removed the middle man.

I have. I find it's actually a bit tougher than the mass produced stuff unfortunately.

The only reason I'm willing to pay up a bit for it is because the cows are slaughtered much more humanely, with a point blank bullet to the head, rather than being hung upside down with their throats slashed on an assembly line which can take several minutes to actually kill them.

Being in proximity to all the ecofascist, foodgestapo, leftwing kook propaganda and purveyors looking down their noses at anyone not wearing hemp or heavier than being underweight by 20% and driving a car that isn't a hybrid.

You can't help but broacast ignorance as loudly as you can, can you?

Dammmmmmmit, people, fucking focus, will ya?

The topic is not fresh eggs, or organic produce, or surfing... it is finding a suitable nom de plume. So far, the one most on topic is the notoriously off-topic poster... TruthMocker! :lmao:

I am quite grateful that she has managed not to blame Bush, the GOP or link to wiki in this thread though. I think that's an achievement.

I think you should sell the naming rights to your nom du plume, ie Written by "Whole Foods Market" or "British Gas and Electric"
