Sounds like she's been just stubborn over it...it's her fault if she went to jail over it, especially when people have offered to help and have done some work for her for free!
i know it drives me nuts to see junk all over a yard, and people think they're decorations? Lol!
I think the neighbors have a right to complain, especially if it means this one house can lower their property values because it looks so bad.

According to Mt. Pleasant police, Linda Ruggles was issued a citation for clean lot violation by a town enforcement office on Dec. 15, 2010. The citation was issued because of the condition of her property and the amount of debris in the yard.


After numerous attempts to help Ruggles, police say she refused to cooperate and was arrested. She spent six days in jail.


Police were given the authority to arrest Ruggles back on Sept. 7, 2011 when Ruggles was found guilty of a clean lot violation. A bench warrant was issued mandating Ruggles to pay $480 or spend 10 days in jail.
After the bench warrant was issued, a Mt. Pleasant police officer went to Ruggles' home to discuss her options. According to a police report, the officer informed Ruggles that he was sympathetic with her financial difficulties and although the warrant authorized him to arrest her, he wanted to help.



The officer told Ruggles that he was willing to try to find someone to help her clean up her yard and residence or help pay for the fine. Ruggles said she wasn't interested.



The report states that Ruggles became defiant and loudly informed him that she was being prosecuted by the town enforcement officer. She said she was unable to clean up the area because of financial difficulties and that she had to leave for work at Harris Teeter.


Despite numerous attempts to help Ruggles, police say she refused and continued to be defiant. Police Chief Harry Sewell even tried to help Ruggles. He went to her home to offer assistance, but she didn't answer. He left his business card, but she never called.

This Charleston suburb, Mount Pleasant, a haven for snobby liberals, is about to arrest this woman, AGAIN, because they dont approve of how she decorated her yard.

No public safety hazard the 1st time, or 2nd time. A 100% appearance issue. The neighbors and local govt dont like how her yard "looks". That simple. Purely aesthetics.

Mount Pleasant is a weak mayor/strong council form of govt. The mayor is basically a mascot. He has almost no power in the town. The council runs the town. Not the mayor. He won a bitterly fought campaign against two former councilemen, mostly because he had a lot of clients through the insurance company that voted for him.

Charleston County has been dominated by Democrats and liberals for quite some time now.

B) Volunteer to go over there and help her clean so YOUR value wont go down (no neighbors volunteered to help her, they only called cops)
C) Get the fuck over it, because if you live next to a slob, then yes, you live next to a slob and the home is worth exactly what a home next to a slob would be worth.
