1.Why should any of us care about the big story in the media…..this ‘fearful government shutdown’????
Are you kidding????
It’s a Christmas Present to the nation!!!
2. First off….it only ‘shuts’ part of the federal machinery: you still get mail, medicate, and social security.
3. Nine departments close, and about 420,000 workers continue to labor, but are temporarily without their paychecks: they always get them retroactively.
a. The bad news is about 400,000 continue on working ….albeit on the same pay-basis as the above.
3. Nine departments are put on involuntary leave are the departments of agriculture, homeland security, treasury, interior, state, housing and urban development, transportation, commerce and justice.
In the words of the Bard….'tis a consummation devoutly to be wished!
4. To get an idea of the sort of featherbedding going on in the government, there is the unconstitutional department created by Democrat Jimmy Carter….the Education Department:
“In November 1995, when the federal government shut down over a budget crisis, 89.4 percent of the department’s employees were deemed ‘nonessential’ and sent home.” Beck and Balfe, “Broke,” p.304
5. While the national parks would close…..remember how Hussein tried to make it more painful by closing open air monuments….with no reason nor benefit.
6. Let’s cut to the chase: while the Democrats, and their subsidiary, the media, try to gin up fear and anxiety over the shutdown….clearly it is bogus, life goes on.
But the reason: Democrats will never to allow illegal immigration, their voters, to be stifled. Check out the costs:
a. "Lindsey Graham tells Trump to 'dig in,' demand $5B border wall from Democrats
Trump, Schumer, and Pelosi will meet Tuesday to see if they can work out a deal to fund the Department of Homeland Security and other departments for the rest of the fiscal year. But Democrats say they can only give Trump $1.6 billion, and the impasse is threatening a partial government shutdown if they can't reach a deal in two weeks."

b. "Illegal Immigration Costs $116 billion Annually
“(Washington, D.C.) - Illegal immigration to the U.S. costs federal, state and local taxpayers a staggering net cost of $116 billion a year - an increase of some $16 billion compared to previous estimates - according to a new study released by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). The study is the most comprehensive to date on the cost to federal, state and local taxpayers of the nation's 12.5 million illegal immigrants and their 4.2 million citizen children.
The report, “The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers,” examines the cost of illegal immigration through a detailed analysis of federal, state and local programs that are available to the nation’s illegal immigrant population, their U.S.-born children, or accessed via fraud.
The staggering total costs of illegal immigrants and their children outweigh the taxes paid to federal and state governments by a ratio of roughly 7 to 1, with costs at nearly $135 billion compared to tax revenues at nearly $19 billion.”
