After the weekly re-run of GoT last night (the final episode, of course), HBO ran, "The Last Watch," which was an interesting compilation of film clips taken during the making of Season 8. I dare say, if you were a GoT fan it is a "must watch."

It shows the tremendous magnitude of the effort to produce every episode, especially during this final season. The literally hundreds of people who do the costumes, sets, make-up, and form the mobs in the various fighting and other scenes. Based in Belfast, this production has been a major part of many locals' lives for several years, and of course it will be missed.

Most poignant was the scene where the entire cast is sitting around a big table going through Episode 8 for the first time, and "Jon" and "Danny" hear how their relationship and the story ends. Several of them break down in tears, partly because of how it ended, also but because it was the manifestation of the end of this phase of their professional and personal lives. Very poignant.

Say what you will about the writing for Seasons 7 and 8, millions and millions of people were drawn in through the very last moment of screen time (and beyond). One Hundred Fifty countries? Unbelievable.

I wonder how they evaluate the economics of a venture like this. The cost is at least calculable, but how in the world do they measure the revenue generated by a single series?

People didn’t like the ending of Gone With The Wind either
It was still an epic
