GOP war on the poor: Georgia

Are there nutters here who think that a man working 40 hours per week doesn't deserve to lead a middle class lifestyle? That a family with two parents working full time jobs are being unreasonable for expecting that they be able to feed their two children and keep them healthy.....and still have a few bucks left over to enjoy some leisure time?

I know hard working honest people who, in spite of all their diligence and hard work are broke and poor, because they failed to exercise good judgment.

They bought home they could not afford. They bought cars they could not afford. They went on vacations they could not afford.

Many of them are on food stamps and government assistance.

They get no pity or sympathy from me.

Where again in the Constitution are Americans guaranteed a specific lifestyle? This whole liberal give me attitude is really disgusting. You want to see the TRULY poor? Truly poor people live in huts made of straw, no floor.. they walk miles every day just to get fresh water.. They don't have cell phones, televisions, electricity, cars.. So do us all a favor, save your poor me speech for those who actually believe the snake oil you're peddling.

EXACTLY!

Pursuit of happiness, YES! Guarantied happiness, NO!

Obama is rich. His brother is poor.

Conversely, I know working families who are broke and poor through no fault of their own. They lost jobs and had to downsize, or the jobs they have don't pay enough to live without some kind of public assistance. Property taxes went up, food prices went up, gasoline went up, healthcare and insurance went up, but their wages remained static for a long, long time or even went down or their hours got cut.

Any pity or sympathy for them, or is that just their tough luck? Where would they be without those food stamps or WIC?

In your economic utopia, are there any poor people? Are there people who must make choices between food and medicine, rent or school supples?

I suspect that some nutters would answer yes to that question.

So far, they don't want to answer it at all.

Not surprising, is it?

The same thing is happening to most peope. Inflation, due to govt. and federal reserve Keynesian ponzi scheme monetary and legislative policies is crippling the average american. You stop incurring debt. you pay off your current debt, you don't buy those items anymore, you take on a second job.

Go bitch to Ben Bernanke, congress and the last several presidents about it. It's their fault.

And the advances to the people are paid for by the health insurance companies hired out by employers.

Give up.

No, they aren't. It is not the insurance companies paying for medical research.

Who pays for medical advances?

Medical Research Takes a Hit

Furthermore, the fastest way that Big Insurance dodges paying for a procedure is to call it "expiramental". Even if the science has already been proven.

For instance, Cigna called not paying for Nataline Sarkisyan's liver transplant "expiramental".

And she died.

Cigna did pay Ex-CEO Ed Hanaway 73 million dollars are his retirement, though. I'm sure that was entirely deserved.

Insurance payments takes it all of out the laboratory and makes it possible for the masses.

That is how it works, and it is why we lead the world in making incredible medical procedures mundane and readily available to the masses.

There is no such thing as utopia. It's been answered already. After that, the answer is YES.. People have to make choices about what they can and can not have. Those are the facts of life.

What makes it particularly appalling and unbelievable is that they ARE those very same working people!

The GOP is handing the knife they'll use to cut their own throats...and they'll do it willingly!

It just defies common sense how the RW propaganda machine has convinced those poor simpleton's to vote against their own self interests.

:lol: ^^^^ The give me generation on display

Or people realize that they deserve to get a better share of teh wealth they create.

You ask most people, "Do you want to work 10 extra hours this week to make sure you boss can get his Dressage Horsie", they'd look at you like you are some kind of retard.

But that's really kind of what the GOP advocates.

When an employer spends a large amount of money in order to modernize his operation, (like a new machine, for instance) which results in more production, how does that rightfully and honestly give the worker who now works less, the right and the nerve to demand more? What was their share of creating more wealth?

As to how a person - rich or poor - spend his/her money, be it on "Dressage Horsie" or beer or internet porn or donating to his/her church is nobody's business but his/her own.

If you were smart enough to be rich enough to own a "Dressage Horsie", you would do the same as Ann Romney did. But obviously you are nothing but a freeloader, filled with hate and envy and jealousy over the success of people whom you and your liberal ilk has no hope to measure up to.

This is the future the GOP would like to bring to all of America.

"...What's Georgia's secret? According to government documents, interviews with poor Georgians, and those who work with them, it's a simple one: Combine an all-Republican state government out to make a name for itself as tough on freeloaders; a state welfare commissioner so zealous about slashing the rolls that workers say she handed out Zero candy bars to emphasize her goal of zero welfare; and federal rules that, regardless of who's in the White House, give states the leeway to use the 1996 law's requirement for "work activities"—the same provision that Republicans have charged President Obama wants to unfairly water down—to slam the door in the face of the state's neediest...."

Perhaps you leftist fuckwads should stop creating so many poor people.... why is it you leftist fuckwads want everybody to be needy?

Not in liberalland... everybody's the same... you drag everybody down to the lowest common denominator.

Welfare was initially started as a short term helping hand for people in need.

But it has morphed into a perpetual and multi-generational freebie that mentally cripples peoples will to work or better themselves..............

This!

are they all poor people or are some looters? some abusers? some just lazy abusive looters?

does anyone in AMerica remember being poor? And, not running to the big government to be fed, clothed, housed, cell phoned, and paid in a check from de gubbmint? I do.

Perhaps if he weren't such a HYPOCRITE people would actually believe him. SEE JEFFREY IMMELT.

Yeah, right. To the GOP, Obama can do nothing right and they've consistently refused to meet him halfway on anything. Their whole OMG! OBAMA routine is sinking this country.

Says the phoney left who did nothing but scream, "BOOOOOOOOOOOOSH LIED PEOPLE DIED" and hated on the man for 8 years.. What a joke! Get this through your Zombie mindset.. BUSH AND OBAMA are very alike in how they govern(ed). The only difference is the D or R after their names.. You're a partisan hack so it doesn't matter to you if your guy screws over the nation.

To people like oldguy Obama's greatest credit is that he is (half) black and Bush's greatest debit is that he is white.

This is the future the GOP would like to bring to all of America.

As far as jobs shipped to China, they were the jobs unions killed with their insane demands.

Yeah...like the "insane demand" that a job ought to actually provide a living for the worker and his family.

What a radical concept!

No job is guarantied to provide a living for the worker and his family.

If the worker is only capable perform a job that does not pay enough to feed his large family, the worker should and must learn to be more capable or get another job.

Nothing radical about that. I lived it as a young immigrant who at first could not even speak English, worked at more than one job several times, never was on welfare, but once, for seven weeks on unemployment insurance, for which I paid, while employed.
I also moved several times to places where the jobs were. NOW, THAT is a radical concept!

So save the tears for your fellow liberal freeloaders.

Being on welfare should be just as hard as described above.

Able to work and no kids? 4 hours cleaning streets/parks, 4 hours training at some skill.

Have young kids? 5 hour mandatorydaily classes on some skill, even basic housekeeping, and we watch the kid while you are at it.

Older kids? We provide basic daycare, you go to class or do #1 above.

I would be willing to pay for this, not handouts that have no downside.
