The Democrats are scared shitless, and censoring everything that they can, like the little kids that they are.

What I do not understand about the Republican stance on abortion. Why do Republicans care if any or all of the people unfortunate enough to vote for Hillary Clinton kill their babies? Seems to me that this would make the USA a far better place.

Is Huma having a little Weiner yet? Or does the baby look conspicuously like Arnold Schwanseneggers photo of Bill Clinton?

It's time to stop the delusions.

Trump now has 1002 pledged delegates. The Princeton Election Consortium gives him a 98% chance of being the nominee and he's at 97% even if he loses Indiana where he leads the most recent polls by 8 points.

Basically, It's OVER. The Trump haters were wrong, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, and again. 16 candidates vanquished. 16 wannabes defeated. The "deepest bench" in GOP history was squashed like cockroaches by a man with no political experience.

If history is any guide, the same Trump haters will be wrong about the general election as well.

The delusional were the people who didn't believe the polls when Trump surged ahead last summer and basically never relinquished this lead.

So the polls were right.

Those who argued against the polls were wrong. They ignored the hard data. Those who were wrong argued that people would change their minds. They did not.

What do the polls say now?

Well, since Trump took the lead, he has trailed Hillary. At no point has he led Hillary in the RCP averages.

Trump v Clinton.png

So if the polls were right all along for Trump in the GOP, why would they be wrong in the general? People didn't change their minds during the primaries, so why would they change their minds for the general?

It seems that the delusional are those who think that Trump will win in November.

Like Trump's detractors who ignored the hard data predicting Trump would win, Trump's supporters are ignoring the hard data that he will lose in the fall.

If history - and empirical evidence - is any guide, Trump will lose big to Hillary.

Sorry Toro, but the early General Election match-up polls have almost ZERO predictive value until the nominees of the two parties are certain. That's not just my opinion either it's from Nate Silver, Sam Wang, Zogby, etc....ya know, the people who do this for a living.

Going forward the polls will start to mean something. If hiLIARy continues to lead Trump you could be proven right. We'll see.....

I have a feeling the polls are going to tighten significantly in the coming weeks and months. But I could be wrong!!

If you go back to the last nine elections, the only candidate who has come from this far back in the polls at this point in time was Slick Willie, who at one time was down by 20 points. But Clinton won in part because Perot got 19% of the vote, and there won't be a third-party candidate in this election. Even Reagan, who was way behind Carter early in the year had pulled pretty much even by now.

What Silver has said - he has an excellent podcast BTW - is that the primary polls tend to be very unpredictable, but the general polls tend to be very predictable after the conventions. What makes this election different is that 1.) the polls have been fairly accurate in the primaries, and 2.) there has never been an election between two candidates with such high name recognition.

So there is reason to believe that things won't change a whole lot.

Of course, that doesn't mean things won't change. Trump can win. But something dramatic will likely have to happen.

The heavy duty data is whether or not Hillary can win the senate if she wins the White House. Next comes her tendency to blow herself up.

i think the GOP will settle for a Trump/Rubio, Martinez or Bigbird ticket

If the Blue Wall doesn't collapse into insolvency on Trump's watch. The states that are paying 50% more in tax-exempt yield than 30 year treasuries pay in taxable yield are all blue wall biggies: CA, MI, NJ, NY, PA; no longer include IL or PR, which are insolvent already. Let Hillary be the scale goat for that mess.

From your post: but the general polls tend to be very predictable after the conventions

We haven't had the conventions yet.....Until then, it's just statistical noise and a lot of conjecture by people with lousy track records.

Nate Silver has been dead wrong about Trump this entire election season:
Nate Silver: Trump Has About 5% Chance Of Winning
Donald Trump’s Six Stages Of Doom
Donald Trump Is Winning The Polls — And Losing The Nomination
Donald Trump Won’t Win Just Because More Voters Are Paying Attention

Multiple times over the past six months, Silver has reminded his readers that Trump was just a "flash in the pan" and his numbers would fall......how'd that work out??

Zander, you're ignoring the downside of a Trump win:

Can he fix Obamacare?

Can he prevent more than a century of bad policy in NY and IL catching up with those two states? Or correct more than half a century of lunatic policy in MI and CA?

Can he correct Obama's halfwitted race baiting? For example in the 2010 Defense appropriation bill there was an apology for among other things the trail of tears which at least one D congressman from Iowa did not know about in 2013 and then he tried to revive "shoot a skin to watch him spin" in the Zimmerman case. His treatment of South and East Asians was hamhanded as well.

For no discernible reason he made the news this month for lecturing Germany and the UK on how to run their own countries. If Trump has a lick of sense he would know that being the clown with the snow shovel behind the elephant is a lot less messy than cleaning up after our fearless leader.

A vote for Trump is a vote for Hillary.
No more, as Trump is 99.9 percent the nominee. Even if the GOP jumps in to stop him, the Supreme court will have a ruling in 24 hours, as the will of the people will stand. It has too, or we are communist in disguise.
