"Obama Pulls Back Proposal to Tighten Clean Air Rules

By JOHN M. BRODER

Published: September 2, 2011

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is abandoning its plan to immediately tighten air-quality rules nationwide to reduce emissions of smog-causing chemicals after an intense lobbying campaign by industry, which said the new rule would cost billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs, officials said Friday.

The Environmental Protection Agency, following the recommendation of its scientific advisers, had proposed lowering the so-called ozone standard from that set by the Bush administration to a new stricter standard that would have thrown hundreds of American counties out of compliance with the Clean Air Act. It would have required a major effort by state and local officials, as well as new emissions controls by industries and agriculture across the country"

(Its also an admission of guilt after the release of the employment numbers this morning that the administration's policies have not been working, cannot work, and will not work in the future, that his administration has been standing in the way all along of any possible economic recovery and that four more years of Barack Hussein Obama will lead to four more years of recession and stagnation. We saw all of this happen before during the twelve year Great Depression and after seeing it once we should commit ourselves to never making that same mistake again.
Unfortunately the LeftMedia thought they recognized in Barack Hussein Obama the Socialist's 'Wet Dream" in that anyone objecting to or obstructing any of his policies could be labeled as 'Racist', dealt and disposed of just as quickly. As a result the Media conspired and colluded to obfuscate and obliterate any and all questionable relationships Obama had with such anti American individuals as Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright and the oderiferous Antoine Reczko. This obfuscation and failure to adequately vet Barack Hussein Obama as a candidate for the Presidency of the United States lead to the ascent to that office of the most anti American, most unqualified, most dangerous man to ever reach that position.

Bill O'Reilly(?) had Mark Levin on last night and Mr O asked Mark Levin if an admission from Mr O that his policies had not worked would be sufficient and Mark Levin replied that "The only thing that would be acceptable would be a statement from Obama that he has screwed up the country so badly in his thirty two months in office that he was resigning immediately")

VERY GOOD ARTICLE--and here's another on the amount of new government regulations under this administration--that has turned this administration into the job killer administration.

Actually, I don't know of any republican job policies that have taken effect since January. So you're right, Cantor is trying to take unearned credit for jobs created in the early part of 2011. Not like any politician on either side doesn't do the same though.

On the other hand, QE2 is over and the stimulus money is finally running out. These programs were and are temporary in nature and did nothing to change any attitudes or improve any confidence in the economy, so when the money dried up so did the effects. I don't think the GOP has any responsibility for the poor job the dems are doing managing this economy. Instead, they'v prevented the dems from making it worse and increasing our debt/deficits.

I don't think republicans who have lost their jobs--are real happy with this report--but nice try anyway--:cuckoo:

Here we are in the summer--typically the busiest season of the year for job growth--and Obama goes on vacation--(like he did last year)--announcing he had a new jobs plan--that obviously flopped last year--and then waits to announce this year's plan (after he takes a vacation) first.

Classic dupe of Pub Propaganda....misses the point totally (Pub obstruction and fear mongering is total, blocking recovery measures since 1/2010), but is up on all the trivial, irrelevant Pub BS. Hoping for your recovery.

Do you drool on yourself when you're spouting that nonsense?

The dupes are GREAT at STUPID insults when they don't have a leg to stand on...absolutely brainwashed, or just haters? Hoping for your recovery.

This can't be true. Republicans ran on "Jobs Jobs Jobs" and they forced Obama to extend the Bush Tax cuts. We know from 8 years of Bush and trickle down how well Republican economic policies work. It has to be the liberal media lying.
Republicans have God on their side. They can't be wrong.

Nobody "forced" Obama to extend the Bush Tax cuts, Rdean. He reluctantly recognized that letting them expire was going to be one more thing to dampen "HIS" economy. It's the same reason the Democrats didn't get rid of the Bush Tax cuts when they controlled the House and the Senate. But naive liberals like yourself buy the excuse that the Republicans "forced" Obama to extend the cuts.

BS- even though Obama NEVER wanted to raise them before 2013....more total Pub Dupe BS...

Fine...then explain why Barack Obama and the Democrats didn't vote to let the Bush tax cuts expire when they controlled the government?

It's amusing to watch you people do linguistic contortions trying to explain the unexplainable.

I thought unemployment stimulates the economy? Can Pelosi and the Dems be wrong?

lol! Socialists/Progressives are not going to fix our Economy. More & more Americans are figuring that out.

Sure.

Duh- because they were in the middle of the Bush DEPRESSION, and didn't want to scare ANYONE. They only had five months of Senate control, ending 1/2010. Nice insult, but actually you're just ignorant and misled into irrational hate.

Suddenly, Republicans stop taking credit for jobs reports

Steve Benen rightly mocks the GOP's selective amnesia on jobs report data. Earlier this year they were taking credit for job growth. For example:

ericcantortweetjobsapril.png

Indeed, job growth wasn't bad in the first four months of 2011, averaging about 178,500 jobs per month.

But that was before any of the GOP's economic policies had taken effect. Over the last four months, we've seen the impact of April's budget deal compounded by a summer of hostage-taking over the debt ceiling, culminating in a deal that in their own words gave them 98 percent of what they wanted.

And ever since the GOP started getting its way, job growth has declined sharply, averaging just 39,500 jobs over the last four months, a drop of 139,000 jobs per month from the first four months of the year.

So whatever they're doing isn't working. No wonder they've stopped taking credit.

There was no "existing thread" for the subject of my OP, which is different in focus from this OP.

Maybe the word "Jobs" caused undue confusion.

Raising Taxes and spending more Tax Dollars will not save us. In fact the opposite will actually happen. How many future generations are the Socialists/Progressives sinking? A bleak future awaits our Nation for sure.

That's not true. Republicans held millions of Americans hostage, threatening to cut off their unemployment if Obama didn't extend the Bush Tax cuts. It wasn't that long ago. Not enough time to forget.

How can Republicans know so little about what their leaders are doing? How do they defend these awful people?

What?

Whether you like it or not, if we taxed companies 10% of their cash, which would give us $180B, we could hire 3 million people for one year and pay them $60K. Before taxes.

That's jobs right there, even if you you choose not to believe it.
