[Book of Jeremiah]

I've decided to return to writing - because there continues to be new people coming to USMB and not all have heard the Good News! The message today is something the LORD gave me this morning about the purpose of Israel's rejection. Fresh manna from heaven! I thank Jesus!

Beginning In Romans 11: 11 It is written:

I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fullness?
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify my office: If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
For if the casting away of them be of the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy, and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

What a blessing that is to read this morning. This is confirmed in the Gospel of John in Chapter 4 verse 22 where Jesus told the woman at the well, Salvation is of the Jews.

Now addressing God's sovereignty I would like to quote these scriptures to you to consider and meditate upon today:

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect, For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, in ISAAC SHALL THY SEED BE CALLED.
That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of promise are counted for the seed. For this is the word of promise, AT THIS TIME WILL I COME, AND SARAH SHALL HAVE A SON. And not only this: but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father, Isaac: (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth) It was said unto her, THE ELDER SHALL SERVE THE YOUNGER.
As it is written, JACOB HAVE I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HAVE HATED. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
For he saith to Moses,
I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I WILL HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION, ON WHOM I WILL HAVE COMPASSION.
So, then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that show mercy.

And again it is written in the verse that follows:

For the scripture saith to Pharoah, EVEN FOR THIS SAME PURPOSE HAVE I RAISED THEE UP, THAT I MIGHT SHEW MY POWER IN THEE, AND THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE DECLARED THROUGHOUT ALL THE EARTH. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy and whom he will he hardeneth.

This is the Sovereignty of God. This is the Great Sovereignty of God! To God be the Glory.

What does this mean to you? It means that God will have compassion on whom He will have compassion on! He will show mercy upon whom He will show mercy upon! It is God that has chosen you first! God chose you first, beloved! It wasn't according to anything you did or didn't do. It was according to His compassion, His mercy. Not your own goodness apart from Him. God loved you while you were yet sinners. How great is the love of God? The finite mind cannot comprehend how great the love of God is.

How great is the Lord God Almighty! Blessed be the Name of the LORD.

It is good to see you this morning, Roadrunner. Your comment caused me to be reminded of some scriptures in 2 Corinthians. This is what the Word of God says about how the Word of God effects those who are perishing and also those who are being saved:

It is written:

For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? - 2 Corinthians 2:15,16,

And in the King James Version it is written:

For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient in these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God, but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
- 2 Corinthians 2:15,16,17

This means that those in Christ speaking in Christ's Authority - the written Word of God - to those being saved - we are a sweet fragrance - such as the Rose of Sharon - which is how Christ is described - a sweet beautiful fragrance - but to those who are perishing - this is how it is - the Believer as they preach the pure word of God - are as the aroma of death to the perishing - in other words - it is so repugnant to the perishing that they are literally repelled as one who is repelled by the aroma of a dead body - the two could not be more different - one from the other. It is quite a stark picture of the effect those In Christ have upon the world - those who are not in Christ - but are perishing.

It is very important to note that the distinction is made in verse 17 that we are not as the many, which corrupt the word of God - in other words, false preachers, prosperity preachers, false teachers - will not have this effect because there is no power in the Gospel they preach. It is a false Gospel. It is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ preached that is preached with sincerity in the sight of God - that has such an effect upon the hearer - the reader - the person who is encountering the pure Word of God.

Guno, this is why the prophet, Isaiah said, LORD, WHO HATH BELIEVED OUR REPORT? This is why the scriptures declare, Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The scriptures declare this:

But I say, Have they not heard? Yes, verily, THEIR SOUND WENT INTO ALL THE EARTH, AND THEIR WORDS UNTO THE END OF THE WORLD. But I say, Did Israel know? First Moses saith, I WILL PROVOKE YOU TO JEALOUSY BY THEM THAT ARE NO PEOPLE, AND BY A FOOLISH NATION I WILL ANGER YOU. But E-sa'-ias is very bold, and saith, I WAS FOUND OF THEM THAT SOUGHT ME NOT, I WAS MADE MANIFEST UNTO THEM THAT ASKED NOT AFTER ME.

But to Israel he saith, ALL DAY LONG I HAVE STRETCHED FORTH MY HANDS UNTO A DISOBEDIENT AND GAINSAYING PEOPLE.

Returning to the message of God's sovereignty - here are the next set of scriptures -

It is written:

Beginning with Romans 10

Thou wilt say unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Nay, but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

- Romans 10: 19, 20

And again it is written:

Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitteth for destruction:
And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory.
Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
As he saith also in O'-see, I WILL CALL THEM MY PEOPLE, WHICH WERE NOT MY PEOPLE; AND HER BELOVED, WHICH WAS NOT BELOVED. AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS, THAT IN THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS SAID UNTO THEM, YE ARE NOT MY PEOPLE, THERE SHALL THEY BE CALLED THE CHILDREN OF THE LIVING GOD.

To the one who calls herself a goddess and is no goddess but rather a person (mere mortal human being appointed to live once, die once and then the judgment) under the wrath of God Almighty - your god, Satan, is under my feet.

In considering the sovereignty of God we should not only consider and have respect for the the compassion of God and the mercy of God but also the severity of God - the judgment of God - the wrath of God.

For it is written:

Hebrews 10 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

it is very tremendous to fall into the hands of God, in the way of his judgments in this world; the apprehensions of a future judgment are terrible before hand; and the apparatus of the judgment, when it comes, will be very striking and surprising; but to stand before the Judge, charged with sin, naked, and without righteousness, speechless, and no one to speak in favour of them; to hear the dreadful sentence pronounced, and feel the wrath of God to the uttermost, how horrible must this be! the aggravations of this are, that it is into the hands "of God" that such fall, and not into the hands of men, or mere creatures; but of God, who is omniscient, and sees through all pretences; omnipotent, and none can rescue out of his hands by force; omnipresent, and so no escaping from him; just and faithful, and not to bribed, inexorable, immutable, and unalterable: and that he is "the living God"; in opposition to the lifeless deities of the Gentiles, and to mortal men; and is expressive of his eternity, and so of the duration of the sinner's punishment, that falls into his hands.
