All the big retailers are reporting their Xmas trading results at the moment and it makes for gloomy reading. It looks like we spent a lot less this year
So far -
M and S
Tesco
sainsburys
Morrisons
Waitrose
Joules
Superdry
All down.

Game
HMV
Jessops
Debenhams
House of Fraser
All closing stores.
Mothercare - gone completely.
Brexit: 2019 worst year ever for British retail sales

The internet is copping for some of the blame, brexit is another reason. But high rents is as valid a reason. Landlords are still expecting to charge pre internet rents on properties that no longer warrant it. A change is gonna come and its best to stay out of retail and retail property.

Good. Good. Glad to hear that. I don't shop at any of those places anyway. The UK, one step closer to being the weak, crippled Dhimmi nation they deserve to be as a result of the pathetic EU, unless Boris does the right stuff and shows you Brits how to grow hair on your balls and be and act like men again.

Yes and my advice to the world is that the financial markets of England are reaping what they sowed, I for one recommend not investing a plug nickel (or whatever freakish coin you use) in the UK, and to sit tight and see whether Boris now does the right thing and rebuilds Britain back to being a functioning empire again that can actually and deserves to survive and stand on its own two feet. Good luck with that.

Watching the series on Netflix, can't remember what it is called... about bad Landlords and bad tenants.
JESUS CHRIST... the tenant/landlord laws in the UK are absolutely insane. INSANE.
In America to evict an arrears tenant takes 60 days. Once a tenant is 30 days past due you give notice, if within 30 days they have not caught up - done. A Deputy Sheriff will accompany you and they have 24 hours.
Done.
HA! - not in the UK. The police will not assist you. Zero. Nada. You have to pay a private organization to give eviction notice, but only if the tenant is at least 60 days past due. Then they have another month. Then you have to go to court, then it might be another month until they actually have to leave.
AND - you have to pay the private firm, the court costs and a bailiff fee to evict them. It can cost $2000 to evict a tenant that is now 4 months past due. INSANE

Stupid fucking prick.

Sorry to hear Tommy both your abhorrence for pricks, being one yourself, but of an honest and open appraisal of the English situation as they have economically made it for themselves now in contrast to your 2,000 totally partisan and pointless criticisms and attacks of America, no doubt out of a deep personal envy for not being American, too. Good luck with that.

The simple truth is that Europe is weak and failing, socialism hasn't worked, and their effort to unify together in a Union trying to emulate the USA has NOT worked out.
