This is deja vu. Trump said exactly the same thing last year and got shot down when he tried to stop federal monies from being sent to help CA.
I just can't believe our country has gotten so political that when fires happen we would turn our backs because they're DEMOCRATS?
What is wrong with that picture?

He didn’t try to stop money going there. He threatened it and here was Newsom’s response at the time-

They've also neglected maintaining their dams...and when one of them bursts (especially the oroville dam) whole towns will be wiped out.

And still they are NOT going to get federal aid money!

Well, I just googled "Does thinning forests prevent wildfires?" and the first article "Active Fire Management Tools can Save Our Forests" said yes. The second article "Why Thinning Forests is Poor Wildfire Strategy" said no.

I remember a lot of debate about this many years ago when there was a huge wildfire in Yellowstone. It seems there is still debate on which is the best way to go.

It shouldn't be a political side show.

The oroville dam has been on the edge of collapse for 3 or 4 years now...the main spillway completely eroded 2 years ago...they put a billion dollars to fixing it but as usual, the money was pilfered by corrupt politicians an shoddy work was done on the repair.

It is a disaster waiting to happen & will cost thousands of lives downstream (if not more).

But who cares about the death of thousands or more when they can get more federal aid dollars from the other 49 states??? So they're going to let it happen! Then they will claim that nobody saw it coming.

It was either 2 or 3 years ago that they had mass evacuations from the area because the dam was just about to go. But somehow...it held.
