The American people at this time on the issue of healthcare need leadership from the President of the United States not a person solely focused on the politics of the issue. After next weeks Senate vote on the issue of solely repealing the ACA, if this bill fails the American people need President Trump to blow the whistle on the Republican game on healthcare! This abomination of the democratic process where the majority Party subverts the constitutional process for making laws to try to enact legislation the majority of the American people oppose needs to stop the Republican Keystone Cops act on healthcare needs to shutdown this is an utmost serious issue that needs to be treated accordingly. After next weeks vote, President Trump needs to start calling for working with the Democrats to improve the ACA that the effort to repeal and replace the ACA is permanently over that the Republicans were given their chance and could not come up with a replacement law that the majority of Americans support so this serious problem of the ACA producing health insurance which has premiums and deductibles that are too high and insufficient insurance selection needs to be addressed and improved!

President Donald J. Trump needs to get his act together on healthcare. President Trump has the wrong perspective on this issue his recent tirade that he and the Republican Party aren't going to own Obamacare is a bad perspective; it doesn't matter that President Trump doesn't like and probably even hates the ACA. President Trump is President of the United States and so has a responsibility over America's health care system and the ACA is a major part of America's law that regulates America's health care system so President Trump has a responsibility over the ACA if there is problems in the law he is responsible for fixing them. President Trump needs to wake-up and smell the coffee the fundamental principles of Obamacare aren't going away the doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical industry and medical equipment industry in America have seen to that by making healthcare so expensive in America. President Trump is living in a fantasy world when he thinks if America's current ACA based healthcare system collapses, insurance companies en masse refuse to participate in the individual insurance market, the Republican Party can then completely trash the ACA and work their will on America's healthcare law. The fundamental principles of the ACA the major developments that the ACA brought to America's healthcare system is one that for Americans whose employer doesn't offer employer sponsored health insurance the Federal government will help financially low and middle income families buy such insurance and two that the federal government will channel money to the individual insurance market to help pay for the cost of treating people with serious health problems so as to lower premium cost albeit to a very modest amount. If the Republicans are faced with this collapsed system any legislation that the Congress and the President enact to remedy this problem are going to either have or leave these two element in the ACA in America's regulatory law because there is no other way to make health insurance affordable to low and middle income families and provide such insurance for Americans with pre-existing conditions that is just reality sorry President Trump.

President Trump you hold yourself out as a person that is knowledgeable about America's political history so I am sure you would understand the political reference to President Obama's executive order on immigration moment and what that meant for his Presidency this is a reference to when President Obama won the 2012 election and the Republican leadership warned him not to issue this executive order because it would spell the end of any Republican effort to cooperation on comprehensive immigration reform reform Republicans deep down wanted to do because not doing so prior resulted in them losing the Hispanic American vote in large numbers in 2012 and cost them that Presidential election, President Obama did not heed that warning and the Republicans carried through on their threat. President Trump pursuant to his own statements believes if the Republicans repeal the ACA that the Democrats will then have to work with Republicans on passing a replacement law. President Trump would be making a President Obama like mistake if he acts on this belief. Being realistic means heeding the Democrats warning that if the Republicans repeal the ACA without a replacing it in the same bill Democrats will not lift a finger to help pass a replacement law. Good judgment would conclude that if the Republicans solely repeal the ACA they won't be able to enact a replacement law and it will turn out to be a colossal mistake in the 2018 elections many voters that had voted Republican in the 2016 election will vote Democrat believing that clearly the Republican Party cannot be trusted with such a reckless move!

If President Trump believes the best course of action at this time is to focus on the 2018 election and getting more far right candidates elected to Congress to vote for the replacement Republican healhcare bill that abandons many people it would be a colossal mistake. If he does he will be tagged with this bill which isn't "great" it is "mean" and a law that the majority of Americans think is a worse law than the current law and will lead to his political undoing. What the American people need right now is President Trump to bring his "A" game to confronting Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell because if this next week attempt to solely repeal the ACA fails McConnell is going to pivot to passing a bill that puts a bandaid on the ACA so the Republican Party doesn't get voter blowback in the 2018 election for not doing enough for fixing a collapsed healthcare system the bill will do essentially nothing about fixing the ACA's "sucky" health insurance with too high premiums and deductible. President Trump needs to confront Mr. McConnell and say I want a good faith bipartisan legislative effort to improve the individual insurance and I will not sign a bill that embodies anything less, I will do what President Obama did on reinsurance to keep the individual market afloat. The Executive Producer of the Apprentice needs to recognize the next scene is a climactic scene America needs to see the real estate mogul Donald Trump not the political hack Donald Trump!

It's the corrupt GOP who screwed the people. Nevertheless, Trump is going to get on the Republicans butts at lunch today and make them do something.

Needless to say, I didn't read the OP but in reply to the thread title -

3+ years from now, we will still be hearing people say 'trump needs to act presidential', trump needs to DO something', 'trump needs to stop lying', 'trump needs to stop stealing from the US govt', 'trump needs to stop his babyish twitting'.

What we see is what we get. Fat, orange, corrupt, do nothing but lie, steal, cheat and play golf and eat and eat and eat.

And as the years pass, we will still be waiting for the GOP to do something besides legislate for the 1% and shit on the American people. The cheeto will rubber stamp anything the Rs put in front of him just so he can say he has done something.
