Social Security and Medicare spending is on its way to $1 trillion a year. Soon, the federal government will not be able to even pretend it can pay for these "entitlements" for all Americans. Means-tested rationing is the only way to control these costs. That means that your other income and assets will be counted against your eligibility, just as it is for other government programs. Are you OK with that, or do you have an alternate solution?

Raise FICA withholdings another percent or two.

Assets should not be means tested, as SS is an elder retirement insurance.

Raise the cap on income tax, and the problem is solved immediately.

That actually works for the Social Security problem. You don’t even have to have the PR nightmare of calling it slavery. The 6.2% social security tax + the employer’s 6.2% social security tax of 8 illegal immigrants is sufficient to pay one Social Security recipient. This isn’t a long term solution but it is a medium length solution. Maybe that’s what this leak in the border is all about. Extending social security benefits another 20-40 years with a surge in population of hard working males between 15-55 years old. Let the women stay in their home country. Their wages would be too low and they would have babies that would just burden the public education system.

Black's contributions to SS is a windfall as well as most don't live very long past retirement age.

The average black lives to age 72, Hispanics slightly less, Navajos off the res about 72, on the res 48 to 52.
