Here, the proximate event:

Bones in his spine were dislocated when his car collided with an army truck full of drunken joyriding soldiers. Patton's number three cervical vertebra was shattered, badly bruising his spinal cord. Yes that is a fact. It is factual that some believe that. But that fact has absolutely no value in making a case that Patton's death was not accidental.

It is a fact that many believe the Earth is about 6000 years old.
