Gates vs Obama

Obama is playing politics on this issue, pure and simple.

He's more interested in protecting his standing within the base, than he is in going all out in this war.

He needs to tell Biden and Pelosi to shut the fuck up, and give those troops the support they need.

No more excuses, no more mulling it over. He's had more than enough time to make a decision. Either he shits, or he gets off the damn pot.

He's proven to be quite good at throwing those who become political liabilities under the bus. Right now he's throwing our troops under the bus for nothing more than political gain amongst his far left cronies. It's wrong!

This president is weak. His weakness is showing by the day. Instead of taking the war to our enemies, he's choosing to take his war against a media entity who is costing him politically. Unfortunately, our troops are left hanging.

Sad really!

We do not support our Troops by continually forcing them into logistical nightmares where even a whisper of justification for their sacrifices may be found. Obushama is a pure sell out and yes he's playing politics but that is no different than what the last administration did.

Indicating what he is doing then is not as Commander in Chief but as a politician - and more and more are dying because of his inaction. Either go all in or get the hell out.

The military is turning on Obama...

Remind me again........when were we EVER "all in" in Afghanistan or Iraq?
When Obama said so about Afghanistan.

Too bad we never were before that. Both fronts should be a footnote in history by now.......but there were elections to be won.

Gates will be gone soon. You know what happens to those who dare to disagree with Hopey Changey. Just ask Fox News. He'll be removed very soon.

In the meantime, those in harm's way are getting screwed by Obama. Yet BHO devotes so much energy to protecting his image from a news outlet? The man has no perspective of priorities.

Unfortunately true. Bush did actually learn one lesson from his dad's administration. Bush Sr. had a resounding victory with the Gulf War. Had it happened closer to the electionm he would have been reelected. Since it didn't, people had time to focus on domestic issues and the economy killed his chances. Bush Jr. could have followed the Powell doctrine and gone in with overwhelming force and handled the job quickly. Had that happened, domestic issues would once again be a determining factor in his run for the second term. We all see how much intention Bush and the Republican controlled Congress were concerned with domestic issues. Zilch. Better to extend a war with no end strategy in order to get reelected while young men died needlessly.

Yes, Obama needs to shit or get off the pot.......but it isn't like this isn't without precedent.

We need a libertarian revolution in this country with a sane domestic and foriegn policy that follows our constitution. It has been so long since anyone has seen anything like that, that they have become desensitized to the status quo with Republicans and Democrats.

Exactly - when the on ground commander turns in a report outlining what is needed, only to see that report sit on a desk for week after week after week, has to be very frustrating for those serving on the ground - and now it appears that frustration is taking over the Secretary of Defense.

Several weeks back I called it negligence. Now it's gross negligence.

And from the New York Times today...

Military Memo
As the Commander in Chief Deliberates, Frustration Builds Within the Ranks

WASHINGTON — Only nine months ago, the Pentagon pronounced itself reassured by the early steps of a new commander in chief. President Obama was moving slowly on an American withdrawal from Iraq, had retained former President George W. Bush’s defense secretary and, in a gesture much noticed, had executed his first military salute with crisp precision.

But now, after nearly a month of deliberations by Mr. Obama over whether to send more American troops to Afghanistan, frustrations and anxiety are on the rise within the military...

Last week the national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Thomas J. Tradewell Sr., gave voice to the concerns of those in the military when he issued a terse statement criticizing Mr. Obama’s review of Afghan war strategy.

“The extremists are sensing weakness and indecision within the U.S. government, which plays into their hands,” said Mr. Tradewell’s statement on behalf of his group, which represents 1.5 million former soldiers...

Last August, in a speech to the V.F.W., Mr. Obama defended his strategy, saying, “This is not only a war worth fighting; this is fundamental to the defense of our people.”

Two more American kids were just slaughtered today in Afghanistan. But hey what's the hurry, right Mr. President? I guess he's just way too busy conducting Witch Hunts against anyone in the Media who dare to criticize him to actually care about our kids over there. Nice priorities there Mr. President. How sad.

It sickens me that you partisan hacks are using the death of young soldiers to score points against Obama........just like your opponents did against Bush. Nothing has changed for God's sake. Bush in ADHD fashion saw a shiny object in Iraq and switched gears. Afghanistan has been undermanned and an after thought for years now. Look, I have a vested interest in this thing. My nephew deployed to Bagram just about a month ago. I just went to the post office at lunch to send him a care package. Either go in balls to the wall or get the hell out. My preference is to get out of the hell hole like yesterday as it creates the least amount of casualties. Either we do the job or we come home. My stance is no different today than it was when Bush was using the war for political purposes just as Obama is today.

So cut the partisan crap of using these soldiers like Bush and Obama have and do the right thing.

Obama will deploy more troops. There's no question.

What's happening right now is the political side of the equation to solidify support for a troop increase. Obama's handlers are likely instructing him to continue reading the teleprompter and to pay attention to what he's reading so that he doesn't sound like a dimwit if he is asked any questions.

The folks who run the show know that most Americans who pay attention have been convinced that there are two opposing sides in politics, so they use that as a wedge to control opinions. What's happening now is a build-up in tension by the pundits to convince the so-called conservatives into believing that Obama is placing the troops at risk by not beefing up their numbers. As the tension grows and the criticism mounts, there is more support to send even more of our kids to their death for the foreign policy goals of the ruling finance oligarchs who have usurped the US government.

So that's how the opinions of the so-called conservatives get owned.

As for the so-called liberals, they get owned simply by the fact that most of them have decided that although they might not agree with Obama, he is the solution to our problems. Just as the so-called conservatives were owned by the Bush Administration.

In the end, the propaganda pundits will stir the so-called conservatives into a slathering frenzy, demanding that more of our kids are sent to kill. And to be killed. In the meantime, as the political support is generated, our faithful children who are currently in Afghanistan will be cannon fodder. But that's not a big deal to the finance oligarchs because to them, all military are cannon fodder. They are mere tools to use as pawns in order to achieve their economic objectives.

And the pawns who follow the ebb and flow of mainstream politics will provide all of the support that is necessary to keep it going in perpetuity.

Obama Gets Afghanistan Advice From Mothers of Fallen Soldiers

Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- The commander-in-chief hugged a grieving mother, telling her to be proud of her fallen son, a Marine killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan’s Helmand province.

Lisa Xiarhos also had a message for President Barack Obama: “Be strong and get the job done,” she recalls telling him. “Don’t back down. Send more troops. Support the ones that are there and do whatever you can.”
