It makes me laugh and a little uneasy seeing CNN promote "cheaper gas and cheaper prices for online toys! Wow people, so cheap!" It's an insulting infomercial and they aren't even hiding it (I wonder if they are strategically choosing gas stations?)

Meanwhile, inflation is still very high and there is a war raging in Ukraine and the E.U will have difficulty heating their homes this winter due to being cut off.

Since demand for gas in the US is down to the same levels at it was during the height of the pandemic I give Biden total credit. Of course, prices are not anywhere close to where they were at that time, so I give him credit for that too.

But the largest reason for lower prices was the refineries ramping up production.

We have not seen the refinery turnaround yet.....Several refineries will go into it this fall and one will go away forever due to the EPA who's required "upgrades" made it too expensive to implement due to the age of the facility.

They can't run flat-out forever without maintenance shut-downs.

I am aware of that. But they are the main reason for gas prices dropping.
One of the problems that we are facing is we have made it too hard due to environmental concerns and way too expensive to build new refineries.
But giving Biden credit for drops in fuel prices is best laughable.
