The G chord sounds melodic on any fret with the same finger position. Is this done on purpose? Does this mean that you can change the key without barre?
(You just need to mute the open strings)

Yeah I have no idea either. Does he mean capo?
Well, you can say this, if you move the capo, you change the key, the same chord can be played higher or lower depending on the position of the capo, they sound melodic everywhere.
But G sounds melodic everywhere even without a capo.

I have no idea.

I do know G-B-D like a reflex for whatever reason. :dunno:

:uhh:

GBD? Not GCD? You talking chords or picking? The B kinda threw me off.

I'm only a barely serviceable guitar player and mostly play cheater G. I am the queen of all the cheater chords actually...heh.

Okay! I think I get what OP is saying, and I doubt that it's true.

GBD is a G chord.

A C# E is an A chord.

What is "cheater G"?

:nono: Muting open strings defeats the purpose!

What kind of OP is this, even?! :uhh:

I'm pretty ignorant, never used a capo or slide ever in my life.

Yes, I understand you, if you mute any barre chord it will sound. Yes, I just said something stupid.
Probably it worked for me because I muted the strings mechanically, so they sounded. There is no special system here, I was wrong.
Sorry

Damn, this is a separate playing technique; any triad can be played without barre, simply by muting the strings. You can change keys without barre. Why is this not widely known?

try it(You just need to mute the open strings)
I'd have to buy some guitar strings to do that. It's not happening right now.

It's the middle of the night here.

I could use the acoustic, but those strings are murder. Not doing it.

I need 2-3 sets of strings, and I gotta figure out what I want.

I know it's something like an ultralight brass A for the E on the acoustic and then like medium .09

electrics after the wound strings.

I don't even like that acoustic.
