G chord on 6-string guitar

So one finger 3rd fret on the e-string, and only the top 3 strings?

I learned something new today.

You could actually use the 4th string, too.

That's GBG with no 5th. Adding the D makes it a major chord.

Aw shit, I'm all kinds of giving myself away. :(

Giving yourself away???

Anyway, yes. I often play the 4th string. I have small hands so the regular G is a stretch for me, and frankly I don't put the time in with the guitar to get skilled at it. It's a workhorse instrument for me--it's used in service of my job.

Must be an interesting job.

Just hauled out the acoustic. Had a chopstick/surgical tubing capo on it and was out of tune.
:uhh:

Cannot find the tuning fork, but I think the A is OK.

So I went off that, it was all out of whack.

Got into some "Little Suzy" all sloppy, and then tried some major bar chords and realized how painful it is

and how out of practice I am on those strings.

If you can't pick every note and make it ring doing a major bar chord, you need to tighten up.

Or quit, I chose the latter.
