Freedom follows Christianity...

There's a correlation between the establishment of Christianity and freedom, though. I'll have to research it some more. I couldn't just put up another thread that says "Islam is oppressive". It's true, but it's not the point I'm making.

And Judaism? Christianity is after all based on that religion. Buddhists would fall under you criteria too for not wearing a veil, equal opportunity schooling for both sexes, basic liberty and liberty to live. I am also pretty sure atheists would be pretty freedom loving too.

Actually no, I made the connection, but I want to conduct further research to back it up.

It's pretty obvious from the article that where Christianity departs, chaos reigns, and where it steps in, freedom gets a foothold.

But one piece of evidence is never enough.

try reading the actual words.

good luck!

However atheists don't go in as groups, at risk of death, to bring atheism and preach equality to oppressed populations.

Buddhists, maybe, but they don't seem to be compelled to go out into the world to tray to bring them to Buddhism, and thus, equality. i could be wrong, but are there instances of Buddhism taking a foothold, followed by liberation or increase of liberty to those populations?

I mean liberty to vote, to go without a veil, to go to school. Basic liberty. Liberty to live.

I'm not talking about Cortez, Columbus, and the Catholic Church plundering the New World. That's a different class and a different time.

As far as "the Catholic Church plundering the New World", it was the Catholic Church that OBJECTED to the exploitation and mistreatment of the people of the New World.

Though the connection I have made is that where Christianity makes inroads, it appears to me that increased liberty follows.

It depends on what you mean by liberty. I am pretty sure the indigenous peoples of many countries did not think or feel that christianity was liberating.

Defend.

Defend.....you have got to be kidding.

How about we start with the American Indians. Do you think Christianity did them any good?

How About the Aboriginals in Australia. Australia is still dealing with the lost/stolen children.

These people had religion all of the own.....

No, atheist countries never seem to be freedom-loving. I point you to China and the former Soviet Union. And you can pretend all you like that their aggressive embrace of atheism has nothing to do with the brutality of Communist regimes, but history does not support you.

"Over a half century ago, while I was still a child, I recall hearing a number of old people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: "Men have forgotten God; that's why all this has happened." Since then I have spent well-nigh 50 years working on the history of our revolution; in the process I have read hundreds of books, collected hundreds of personal testimonies, and have already contributed eight volumes of my own toward the effort of clearing away the rubble left by that upheaval. But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: "Men have forgotten God; that's why all this has happened."" - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I think you need to stop conflating Christianity with the settling of North America by European immigrants. And yes, I DO think Christianity did the North American aborigines good, thank you. I spent my childhood summers visiting Indian reservations with my grandmother, before the advent of casinos. The poverty some of those people lived in was appalling, and it was largely the intervention and charity of the churches that did anything for them.

Perhaps you'd like to explain, with evidence, how Christianity is responsible for stolen children in Australia. Unless, of course, you are once again conflating Christianity with settlement. Despite what you've obviously been taught to believe, it's not Christianity's fault that it was always an impossibility for primitive peoples to keep their territory undiscovered by the rest of the world, nor is it Christianity's fault that, once discovered, those territories would come under dispute, as all land does eventually.

If you don't see it...there is no explaining it to you, or any evidence to produce that would show you. It has nothing to do with land.

You guys really don't care much for people in general, do you? You hate them so much that you will not acknowledge those things that help them.

Freedom and equality are Christian tenets. In countries where Christianity blooms, so do they. In countries where Christianity, specifically, is demonized and oppressed, so is freedom and equality.

England and Europe have gone downhill since their migration away from Christianity. The article does support that, and anyone who denies that is just a lying anti-Christian propagandist.

Heil.

This is idiocy – per your cited article the Christian population is decreasing in the most free countries in Western Europe, the population is growing in places were democracy or constitutional republics don’t exist:

About one-quarter of the global Christian population can now be found in sub-Saharan Africa…
You do know some of the most brutal dictatorships are in sub-Saharan Africa, yes?

Freedom and equality are Christian tenets. In countries where Christianity blooms, so do they.

Incorrect, not in sub-Saharan Africa.

Though the connection I have made is that where Christianity makes inroads, it appears to me that increased liberty follows.

You’ve provided no evidence or documentation that where there’s an icrease in the Christian population, there’s an increase in personal freedom and liberty.

If anything, the cited article indicates that countries with a decreasing Christian population are among the most free.

There's a correlation between the establishment of Christianity and freedom, though.

Evidence?

I'll have to research it some more.

I should think so, not that you’ll find any results.
I couldn't just put up another thread that says "Islam is oppressive". It's true, but it's not the point I'm making.

The point you’re making is there are a significant number of Christians who suffer from the sins of arrogance and intolerance.

Good for you, you found a novelist who agrees with you. Big woop. The idea that communism follows atheism is really stupid.

there seem to be a lot of death, murder and child rape involved in the spread of Christianity

Yeah. Until some glassy eyed Nazi, with a picture of Geeziss on his dash, arrests you for breastfeeding in public......or lying on the beach topless...... or ticketing, saying Shit Fuck is "cursing".
Fuck religion. It's a very large part of what made America into murka.

I think before people get to USE the word FREEDOM?

They need to give us THEIR definition of it.

What is YOUR definition of FREEDOM , Koshergirl?

Yeha, they tried real hard to stop it all..:cuckoo:

Ah, right...you mean all those non-Christian founding fathers that neocon retards like yourself tell us were in fact Christian and that your nation was founded on the religion, while the left believe most more dietists? You guys need to get your facts straight.

BTW, it's not lost on me how you try and separate the Christianity/settlement connection, but are more than willing to put Athiesm/Communism in the same basket. It's called being a hypocrite. But that's the least of your problems...

It's actually not that different from the McCarthy era, in which Judaism was linked with Communist sympathies. The Atheist is the Jew of this era...in other words, if something bad happens, we somehow take the blame, regardless of how clean our own hands are.

Let me put it like this...I don't blame THIS GENERATION of white people for slavery in America. Why would I blame THIS GENERATION of atheists for Pol Pot or Stalin?

Because people of THIS GENERATION actually still support ideologies like those fronted by Pol Pot and Stalin.

Really. Atheists in the U.S. support mass murder and communist dictatorship?

You've gone around the holiday bend, KG. Have you been imbibing too much egg nog?
