Free Trade is Bad For Western Countries

Out of concern for the common good?
No good can come to what you propose

The wealthy developed world is less than 10 % of the total population

This “leveling” that you want would be like pouring a bottle of ink onto a swimming pool and expecting a color change

The advanced world would be impoverished without any noticeable improvement in the rest of the world

Thats a definite step back for mankind

The US is in an awkward place,as are the majority of Westen nations. Free trade will see a levelling up in the developing world alongside a levelling down in the West. Trump is the King of Random Tariffs and has placed the US in opposition to free trade.
Why should American or Brits accept a lower standard of living?
They are not. The trade is fair but it's the subsidies which say farmers get, which are distorting the real cost of production.
Sometimes to meet trade prices the product is sold below the COP and the taxpayers picks up the tab.
You are describing mercantilism primarily in manufactured products

The goal is to destroy foreign competition and take over foreign markets

Which is what china is doing go the western nations

And its very harmful to our interests

They have put 100% of their efforts into dominating manufacturing by subsidizing/using slave labor to put US and other western competitors out of business.

You just made all that up.
And as usual its a load of bollox.

Look at the effect that the EU has had on the more backward economies in Europe. Ireland and Portugal come to mind. We will see the same changes in Romania and Bulgaria at some point. The Baltic countries are pretty much indistinguishable with more established European nations.
That levelling up did not come at the expense of Germany and the UK. On the contrary, it increased the markets for our exports.

There are other benefits to levelling up. For example it kills economic migration. It also safeguards jobs and restricts the globalists freedom to act as God.

You havent thought this through.

I doubt ANYONE (you included) is concerned about the "common good."
I'm content to have my standard of living reduced by efforts this country makes toward the common good both domestically and internationally. I understand that's not the American ethos, no worries.
The problem with this statement is that it is all talk. And there is no way in the pit of hell people in power will tolerate a lowered standard of living, so it's a no-go from the get-go.

Our outsourcing companies have paid off enough neocon and Democrat politicians to protect their supply of foreign, cheap unregulated slave labor. It's always been more important for the rat bastard free traders to get re elected than to be a good American and a team player.

China don't want to destroy people who buy their products. That's an absurd business model.
The products enter the country on price alone.
Trumps power play with the tariffs backfired big time. Absolute stupidity to think he would cripple China.

Ireland and Portugal are not communist china

They are not dictatorships bent on total domination of europe

But I understand the US is founded on self interest. No worries.
You sound as if you are not American

And yes, the IS is founded on self interest tempered with Christian mercy

No one said china wants to destroy people

What I said was that china wants to destroy local manufacturing and force the native people to buy from china

Then use that power to dictate all political decisions from beijing

China wants what hitler and tojo wanted

Global trade is a hot topic of the G7 summit in Canada. Is free trade truly free - and fair? What roles do US President Trump, economic powerhouse China, and the EU play in global trade?

the debate over globalism is not just an American issue

How leftist of you.

This is the same argument the left has made for decades.

Commie.

Your video is excellent

I’ve seen it before and every lib on this forum should watch it

The world is bigger than China. You seem obsessed with the Chinese.

Having said that the point still stands. My friend works for Bentley the car makers. They are working flat out to meet demand from chinese buyers who cant get enough of their cars. He reckons that they are keeping this firm going.

Obviously they would not be able to buy these cars if their economy hadnt levelled up

Spreading the wealth makes new markets for the west to exploit. Look at the countries with large populations. Apart from the US these are all countries that are underdeveloped.

Imagine the benefits to the west in having those places being able to afford their goods. Its time to stop exploiting those places for what we can screw out of them and think of the longer term benefits.

Bentley is a status symbol

One if the few western products that the chinese cant clone

The ultra rich chinese want to impress other people by showing off their wealth

But the money to buy that bentley ultimately comes from western countries including the UK

As you lose market share of other products such as solar panels or electric cars - practically everything that euros need for their daily existence - the balance of wealth and standard of living will shift ever more to china and away from you

we were sold a bill of goods that if the Chinese people working these factories got a taste of money and capitalism and higher incomes than what they were making and surviving on before the westernized world trading with them, that they would choose capitalism over communism and revolt against their Communist leaders....
who was that? China is communists, they don't allow free speech, why the fk do you think they wish to take Hong Kong down? you don't get out much.
